What are you cultivating?

"Cultivate Love" is the sentiment I used on my card today. With all the sadness and hatred, I think it is good to remind myself and others that what we cultivate will grow. So instead of fear and hatred and sadness,  lets cultivate love and cultivate beauty.

was the inspiration for my card today. I started with a mono print that I made using SCS - this week's color combo challenge colors.

I stamped images from Flourishe's Old Tea Rose set.  I stamped and asked to get the 3 roses. I was using the roses for the 3 panels of the sketch.

Started painting the roses with white acrylic paint.

Painted the butterfly too.

I water colored the roses to look like peace roses.

I filled in the white areas of the background with blues and greens to match the colors of the original print. I painted the butterfly to look like a small copper butterfly.

I outlined the roses and the butterfly with a black ink pen.

I added white highlights and to make the left panel of the sketch I drew a line with a black marker.

Drew a second line, Purposely having the butterfly "out of the box"

I tried to make the sentiment stand out with the white highlights, but I didn't like it still. I could read "love" but cultivate was kinda hard to read. So I stamped the sentiment on a light mono print. Tearing, black mats, and easel card held open with a wood button completed the card. I hope you can see the sketch, or at least see the inspiration for the sketch.

I plan to share this with the Petals for Pittman's Fundraiser Blog Hop
