I made this card for this week's Card Patterns 116 sketch by Nina Brackett. I also made this for the color combo challenge 324 at SCS. My camera had a hard time capturing the true colors of this card. (Overcast day no sunshine... hate taking photos without natural lighting.) I used Mark's Finest Papers sets... Brick Wall and Daffodil and Anise. I also tried my first french bow on this card. I really struggled with it. I hope practice makes perfect! Have a blessed day!

Carissa's Card

My sister has a friend who was cooking with oil last week and the oil caught on fire and burned her badly. I wanted to make a special get well card, that would hopefully bring just a little joy to her. This is that card. I made the trellis card for the technique lover's challenge that Joan gave us today at SCS. I had made a lot of butterflies Saturday for Eva's butterfly blog hop. These 2 were ones that hadn't made it onto a card but were sitting on my desk. They just flew onto the card when they saw the handmade quilled roses. I stitched the panels together and added brads in the corners.
Close up of big butterfly.

Close up of little butterfly and roses.

The inside of the card.

The big butterfly was from the Mark's Finest Papers set called DAFFODIL AND ANISE.
The little butterfly was from the Mark's Finest Papers set called BRICK WALL.
The sentiment on the inside was from the Mark's Finest Papers set called GREET THE DAY WITH GERBER.

Tickets

These were the cards that I made for Monday's technique challenge, to make tickets. The top card is also for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge to use 3 buttons on a card.
I would have posted these sooner, but I have been dealing with my "REAL LIFE" My teenage son has had an episode of bullying. Remember the children's phrase... sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me? We all know the truth. They do hurt. Someone started a rumor at his school that he had said horrible hurtful things to a girl in a text. I don't allow him to text, so I know that the rumor was untrue. It escalated to them threatening him after school, and then threatening him on facebook. When I saw the death threats, it made me angry and I wanted them punished. Then God worked on me. I came to realize that my reactions were that of the world, and not ones that would reflect God's will. Love your enemies, Pray for your enemies, Forgive your enemies. Such easy things to say when you don't have enemies, but when you do it is the hardest thing to do. In fact I couldn't do it. My son and I prayed that God would give me His Holy Spirit to do it through me. I have spent time since then praying for these children. God allowed me to see them in a new light. He helped me to see his lost children that he loves. I am working on giving over my fears for my son's safety as well.
The second card is for my sister. She has been sick with the flu. Not only her but her 8 children as well. I can't begin to imagine the week she has been having. I pray that she gets better quickly. Posted by Picasa

WISH Technique

If you want to watch video, scroll down to bottom and mute my radio worship or you will have overlapping music. I'm sorry, but I am not technical enough to know how to fix it. Sorry that it isn't the best of quality. Maybe Santa will bring me a video camera this year!

I have a better video now with higher def.

I want to share with you my favorite technique. I call it the W.I.S.H. technique. It stands for watermark, ink, spray and hold. I formally called it the ink spray smash technique, but I.S.S. sounded like something a snake would do. I like this technique for 3 reasons. It is EASY, CHEAP and FUN.
How easy is it? I have taught it to 6 year olds and they were able to do it on their own after seeing it done once.
How cheap is it? There are no special supplies to buy. Most stampers will have them in their homes already.
How fun is it? I think it is a blast to see a white piece of paper turn into a unique creation. Each time I do this technique I get a different look no matter what.

What supplies do you need?
ziplock bag
scissors
markers (watersoluble- I use cheap Crayola markers)
stamp
ink pad
water bottle
piece of white cardstock

Directions:
Stamp image on white cardstock using ink pad.
Cut the top and sides off of the ziplock bag.
Open bag and lay flat on table.
Scribble with markers on the bag.
Spray one side of the bag with water.
Fold bag together and let the marker ink mix.
Open and lay the cardstock, image down on the bag.
Hold for a few seconds to let the ink absorb.
If you want more color, repeat on other side of bag.
Let the cardstock dry and create.

brick wall

I love this brick wall set by Mark's Finest Papers. The brick wall adds such visual texture. I stamped this using the stamping with water technique.
