8 Tests for Decision Making - Bible journal page

When I looked at FACEBOOK this morning, a "memory" popped up of a post I shared 3 years ago. My friend Tonya had shared it with me. I don't know who wrote this list to give them credit. I decided to add it to my Bible Journal. I handwrote it so it might be a little hard to read, so I will type it out so you can read it.
8 Tests for Decision Making
1. Scripture Test (2 Timothy 3:16) Has God already spoken about it in His Word?
2. Secrecy Test(Proverbs 11:3) Would it bother me if everybody knew this was my choice?
3. Survey Test (1 Timothy 4:12) What if everyone followed my example?
4. Spiritual Test (Galatians 1:10) Am I being people pressured or Spirit-led?
5. Stumbling Test (Romans 14:21) Could this cause another person to stumble?
6. Serenity Test (Philippians 4: 6-7) Have I prayed and received peace about this decision?
7. Sanctification Test (2 Corinthians 3:18) Will this keep me from growing in the character of Christ?
8. Supreme Test (1 Corinthians 10:31) Does this glorify God?

I stamped the numbers with black stazon ink. I hand wrote the list. I did printing for the titles and cursive for the questions. I then watercolored it. It was my first time watercoloring in my Bible. It does sink through and gave a "rainbow" on the other side Maybe next time I will gesso the page first to see if that helps keep the color on the one side. My Bible journal is just as much an experiment as it is an opportunity to worship with art.

Mix-Ability. Junk mail inspiration

This week's MIX-Ability Challenge at SCS is a lot of fun. My friend Kyra has challenged us to be inspired by junk mail.

I went on  a cleaning spree the other day with family coming to visit. I wasn't sure that I had any. What I did find was from AARP.  Looking through the AARP mailer, I found this Geico ad. I liked how it was half blue and half yellow. I decided to let that be my inspiration.

I placed a STAMPlorations
ARTploration Stencil called: EVOLUTION

on my gel plate and colored it with chalk.

How it looked when I removed the stencil.

I put a thin layer of white acrylic paint over the chalk and gel plate.

I was able to make 2 prints with the same chalking.

I glued the junk mail ad to a piece of cardstock and die cut 2 little butterflies.

I die cut the little mailbox (still thinking about junk mail as my inspiration.)
out of my chalked mono print.

My friend Kyra has been having a tough time. I wanted to send her a  mailbox full of cards. I live in the country and we have pretty big mail boxes. So I downsized my mailbox for her. So I had to downsize the cards. I made one card for each of the daily SCS challenges.

Monday's Technique Lover's Challenge was this fancy fold. I think it is even more impressive  at one inch. The butterfly on the card is from STAMPlorations TRENDY BUTTERFLIES I used a piece of cardstock that  had been mono printed.

Tuesday's Color Combo Challenge: Had 3 shades of blue. I took a piece of cardstock that I had mono printed in the 3 shades of blue. I then stenciled with markers using. STAMPlorations -ARTploration Stencil called BUBBLE DANCE

Wednesday's sketch challenge. I mono printed on the junk mail. It is hard to see in my 1 inch card but it was mono printed with blue and yellow. I added circles with the Bubble Dance stencil and a black ink pen. I added glitter. The sentiment is handwritten.

Thursday's Ways to Use it Challenge  Was to use white ink. My white ink pad is 16 years old and was almost completely dried out. I was able to stamp one little butterfly but it took several times stamping it to get it done. I decided to outline it with a black marker. Cheesecloth, gold thread and rhinestones give my 1 inch card the mixed media look. I added blue and yellow dots with markers.

Friday's Mix-Ability challenge junk mail inspired. I took some of the yellow/blue mono print that I used on the mailbox to make this card. I added little drops of glue and added gold glitter. I took an ink pen and doodled around the edges. I used copper metallic rub on the edges. I put some cheesecloth and 3 of my quilled roses.

You can see the 5 little cards here lined up on my keyboard.

My next project was also inspired by junk mail. I took an envelope from the junk mail. I mono printed it with blue and yellow re inkers. I stamped the lid to the reinkers on the envelope.

I then took the envelope and glued it to a piece of cardstock to give it some strength. I then die cut this butterfly. I like how you can see the envelope design on his body. I added some more color on the wings with water colors. I also added some copper metallic rub. The rest of my card is not mixed media, but it did have the yellow and blue from my junk mail inspiration. My butterfly with re inkers, water color, white acrylic paint and copper metallic rub has enough different mediums to qualify.

Today is your last chance to win an extra prize.
For my project today I had some designer paper on my desk. If you follow my blog for any length of time you will see how seldom I use designer paper, but this piece was so pretty. It reminded me of sunflowers. I also happened to have a packet of sunflower seeds.

I started by taking a kraft colored envelope and sealing it shut.

I then took my paper cutter and cut the envelop into 2 pieces. I used one of the corners to make my pocket on my card.

I wanted there to be pretty inside the envelope when you pulled the seeds out so I stamped
on the piece of yellow designer paper that is behind the pocket.

If you scroll up and look at the first photo in this post you will see that on the packet of sunflower seeds, there was a bright yellow price on the top right hand corner. It didn't really match the paler and more subtle yellow of the designer paper. So I added my butterfly to cover it up. And of course the inside needed a butterfly too.

I stamped the butterfly several times. I only colored the right wing because that was all I was going to use. (Of course the left sides that I didn't use I saved for another time.)

I then fussy cut the right wings of the butterflies and the bodies out.

Then I glued two wings on top of eachother to make the "half" butterfly.

I hope you have been inspired by my spring fling project. Remember to comment on the featured blogs to win that day's prize. There is one other way that you can be a winner. Shery has a SPRING FLING section at STAMPlorations where the product is automatically 25% off. Isn't that great? But it gets even better. If you use my design team code, below, you will get an additional 20% off. That is a total of 45 % off for product in that section.

April Showers Post Card

I used re-inkers and my gel plate to make this mono print. It kinda reminded me of rain. I decided to use it to make a postcard.

I stamped Unity's Harmony  onto the post card and stamped it again on cream. I then watercolored the cream. I also went around the edges with a marker and a decorative edge ruler.

There are several challenges this week about rain.
1. Little Red Wagon.: April Showers
2.CCC Digi Creations: Challenge 102 April Showers
3. The Sisterhood of Crafters: April Showers

Cratfing by Designs - Blessed Assurance

Hostess: Julia
Challenge: Easter
Sponsor: Lunagirl

The image came in color. I don't have colored ink so I had to get creative. I  printed it in monocolor on cream colored cardstock. I dyed it with tea bags. I painted the wings with white acrylic paint. I colored the hair face and eyes with prisma colored pencils. I put a hymn and two of my art pages behind the little angels. I also added cheesecloth and quilled roses.
