Daffodils and butterfly

This is my card I made for the Unity Sketch Challenge on facebook. I paper pieced the Stitched Daffodils. I added the butterfly from Here today Here Tomorrow. I also stamped the little flowers on the rectangle and on the inside of the card.

This card is also for Ruby's Rainbow challenge 126 PAPER PIECING and for
DRS #220 Spring Fling challenge.

Vintage Birthday for Sketch Challenge 586

When I started making my card for today's splitcoaststampers sketch challenge (SC586), I pulled out some of my quilled roses, a butterfly, some ribbon, lace and some papers that made me smile.

This is the easel card I created. I distressed the edges of the panels. I added pearls, twine, floral filler, cheesecloth and rhinestones to what I had already pulled out.

I like making easel cards for a couple of reasons. Mostly because they stand up and the recipient can put it on a table or desk or shelf and display the card easily. Another reason, I figured out the other day, is it forces me to decorate the inside of the card as well. I used to forget to decorate the inside. On this card I did something I rarely do, I put my butterfly flat against the cardstock. I did it that ways so the card could fold. other wise I would have had the wings shaped and 3-d, like the butterfly on the front of the card.

I embossed and distressed the inside before adding the lace and sentiment.

This card is going to be going to my baby sister who is turning 35 next month.
This will be entered in Word Art Wednesday Challenge 224-225

You are in my prayers. 3 challenge card.

Some color challenges are harder than others for me. Today when I saw the colors for the challenge at Splitcoaststampers, (CC578) I was not overly fond of them. I know I would never have picked
 TURQUOISE, ORANGE AND WHITE.
Funny thing though, when I go ahead and take on the challenge, I usually really like how the colors looked together. That is how I felt with this card. I combined several pieces of dp, that I had in my stash, not because I was hoarding them, but they were there because I wasn't fond of them.
I guess they were MEANT for this card.
This card is also for this week's mojo sketch 441.
I thought that it would translate really well for this weeks SCS technique lovers challenge (TLC579) to make a HINGED PANEL card.

This card is going to my oldest daughter who found out that she and her husband are expecting... My first grandbaby. I am so excited. I already love it beyond words. My daughter has been having a lot of morning sickness, so I'm sending her this card to cheer her up.

Dancing in the rain while wearing roses.

I had a lot of fun paper piecing this card. I used two different rose patterned papers. I pieced matching hat, purse and boots. I added two types of lace, twine, brads and pearls. I used glue and glitter on the raindrops. There is gold metallic rub around edges and a layer of cheesecloth.

Just a sip of coffee

If you are looking for MFP wild animals blog hop, scroll down one more post. I had to make just one more coffee card for the SPRING COFFEE LOVERS BLOGHOP. The paper, butterfly and roses were on my desk asking to be made into a card. I made my coffee cup by cutting a cup out of brown cardstock. I rubbed copper inka gold metallic rub over the surface. I dry embossed it with my cuttlebug. I then took black distress ink and went over the raised areas. Two different types of lace made my table cloth. I added brads, twine, roses, pearls and ribbon. I think my butterfly just landed to try a tiny sip of coffee. I don't mind sharing a drop or two, but if he wants more he is going to have to go get his own cup.

My wild card features this "wild" bird from MFP
PUSSY WILLOWS set

I had so much fun with this set yesterday, I wanted to play with it again for today. I hope you don't mind another sweet little wild bird card. Like yesterday I stamped the bird and branch onto white cardstock. I colored the beak and the branch with markers and I fussy cut it out. I glued litle styrofoam balls to the branch. Today I decided to color the bird brown. One of my favorite parts of today's cards is the little bird's eye. I took hot glue and made a little dot. I took a black sharpie marker and colored it black. I took white acrylic paint to add the highlight.

I made my card a gate fold card. For my mixed media, I choose to go for texture. I added lace, pearls, cheese cloth, ribbon, the styrofoam, the hot glue eye, the acrylic painted dot. I used distressed ink on inside and black stazon ink on outside.

I used MFP LOTS OF WORDS set for the sentiment on the inside.

Color throwdown, sketch card

My friend  Pam messaged me on facebook as soon as she saw what the color thow down was. She knew I would want to play because this is probably my most favorite of color combos. I combined it with the splitcoaststampers sketch challenge 585.  I rotated the sketch. I had a scrap of faux barn wood that I made the other day that was supposed to be kind of a sage green color, it turned out being more turquoise, but it was so pretty I didn't want to throw it away. It was perfect for today. I added some gold metallic rub to the top. I made the rusty nails with a paper piercer, copper metallic rub, white glue and a black fine tipped sharpie marker. I have had these paper roses for several years, but always felt like they were just not right when I just placed them on my card. Today I got the idea to hot glue them to a piece of twine, to "anchor" them. I added floral filler . There is cheesecloth, gold sequins, and some fabulous ombre ribbon from my friend Terri.

I decided to use MFP set called TREE FROGS
I combined it with OH BEANS and JAVA TIME

I thought it would be funny to have the little frog sitting in a coffee cup. So I stamped the middle sized frog and fussy cut him out.

This is my fourth card for the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop.
I hope you will join in on both hops because there are lots of prizes available.

The sketch I used for my card was modified from this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch #344

Coffee and color challenge card

This is my third card for the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop. I combined it with splitcoaststampers color challenge CC575

I used 2 Mark's Finest Papers sets called  OH BEANS and JAVA TIME. I stamped the coffee beans using black stazon ink. I colored with markers, cut them out and put a lot of Aleene's glue on top of each beans. It took awhile to dry but when it was done it gave them a glassy, shiny finish.

The faux wood on my card started as  a recycled piece of cardboard, glue and acrylic paint. I had to mix several different colors to get the mint color for the challenge. When the faux wood dried, I cut it into panels. I wanted to make it look like there were rusty nails. I used a stylus to make indentations and put copper inka gold for the rust and I put a dot with a black marker for the nail.

Wild animal... no more thanks to coffee. 2 blog hops MFP and Coffee lovers

Now I have heard the saying "Music soothes the savage beast." My card shows what really soothes them... coffee. Well, at least it soothes the wild beast in me in the morning. I stamped this little Panda bear and I had some coffee cups that I had stamped last week sitting on my desk. I knew my panda just wanted to have his own cup of joe.

I cut his arm so it would fit through the handle of the cup.  Do you recognize the cup? It is from the stacked cups. I just cut off the saucer. I knew I wanted steam to be coming out of his cup. I taped a small piece of cheesecloth to the back of the cup and I frayed the cloth to make the steam. You can see a close up of the steam in this next photo.
