I made this card for one of my coworkers who has a January birthday. I quilled the flwoer and added pearls and beads to the center and petals. The embossed silver was aluminum foil glued to a cereal box. I then ran the foil covered box through my cuttlebug using and embossing folder. I stitched the panels onto the base of the card and added a ribbon at the top. The sentiment comes from my Mark's Finest Papers set called HEARTS, HEARTS, HEARTS.

Red hats for the teaparty
The cards for today's teaparty are all about red hats. The teaparty destination is for a lady named Joyce who has been struggling with health issues with her cancer that have left her with stroke like symptoms. I hope that this card will bring a little joy to her day. I quilled the hat and used a sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers HEART HEARTS HEARTS set. My husband and kids got me a border embossing folder for Christmas. Of course I had to give it a try.

Inchies with Quilling
The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week was to make a project using "INCHIES". Inchies are little 1"x1" canvases to create on. It is a great way to use up scraps. I cut 3 pieces of scrap from a piece of W.I.S.H.-ed cardstock that was green and blues. I Then quilled a snowman, holly leaves and berry and a poinsettia. I glued them to the inchies and then using my versamark ink pad, UTEE and my heat gun, I embossed the inchies. I then added beads. I layered the inchies on red cardstock, gold paper and white cardstock. I punched a hole at the top and added red cording.

Mark’s Finest Papers - http://marksfinestpapers.blogspot.com
I used the leaves from Autumn Fun and the Sentiment from Thankful Mums and Pumpkins as well as this adorable little hedge hog. I needed some thank you notes for my sons' scout troop. I think they will love this one.
I quilled this garden for this beautiful butterfly. It was also for this weeks sketch challenge SC310. I also did the color challenge this week which was to take an older color challenge and use that. I used CC179. I also did this for the 300 anniversary for the Ways to use it challenge. I used WT147, WT141, WT131, WT241, WT9, WT120, WT259.

Quilled Cardinal
For today's inspiration challenge, I was inspired by this cardinal ornament. I quilled the cardinal. I still have a lot of learning when it comes to quilling. I am basically trying to teach myself by looking at what others have done. I think I need to use a different glue, or I need to be more patient so that there is no glue overage. If anyone has some tips for a beginner quiller, I would love to hear them.

Quilled Snowflake Thank You Card
The free for all challenge at Splitcoast was to make a card to have on hand to thank a hostess who is especially generous to you. I made this for my senior pastor's wife, Ethel. She works so hard each year to host our annual Thanksgiving meal at the church's fellowship hall. She spends hours decorating, planning, cooking and cleaning up afterwards. She has such a servant's heart and doesn't do this for man's praise or thanks, but she definitely deserves to be thanked! I used the sentiment stamp from Mark's Finest Papers - THANKFUL MUMS AND PUMPKINS set. I stamped it randomly on a piece of dp that I got several years ago from the dollar store. I zig zag stitched the panels to the card. The ornament is attached by a piece of thread that is taped to the back of the top 2 panels. It can easily be removed.
Quilled Snowflake Tutorial
This is a quilling tool. It has a notch on one end. Slide the end of the strip of paper into that slot and roll the paper around the tool.
This is what it looks like rolled around the tool.
I take an opened paper clip to dip into the glue. I put a dot of glue at the end.
Hold for a few seconds until the glue starts to hold. This shape is called a "COIL".
I place the coil onto the drop of glue on the folder.
Take 6 more strips. Roll the paper as you would to make a coil, but before you add the glue, pinch one side. This makes a "TEAR DROP" shape.
Add 6 little drops of glue to the folder around the coil. Put them at 12 o'clock, 2, 4,6,8 and 10.
Dip the pointed end of the tear drops into the glue.
Put the tear drop onto the folder. Making sure that there is contact between the tear drops and the coil.
This is what it looks like with the 6 tear drops.
Take 6 more strips of the paper. Fold each one in half. Roll the strips just to before the fold. Roll them so that the coils go to the outside.
This is the result.
Dip the pointed end into the glue.
Slide it into the snowflake at 1 o'clock, 3,5,7,9, and 11.
This is how the snow flake will look.
Take 6 more strips. Fold them in half. This time roll the coils to the middle. These will look kinda like hearts.
Dip the rolled ends into the glue.
Take rolled ends and place next to the rolled ends of the snowflake.
Dip the end of the tear drops, rounded ends into the glue.

Bluebird of Happiness
I made this card for the Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge. I was inspired by this photo on my friend Lorraine's blog. I wish I could get a photo like hers. I have seen a couple of bluebirds in the past week or two, but never when I could catch them on film. The words Bluebird of Happiness went through my head as I was making this card. Wikipedia had this to say about bluebirds and happiness: "It is a widely accepted symbol of cheerfulness, happiness, prosperity, herth and home, good health, new births, the renewal of springtime, etc. Virtually any positive sentiments may be attached to the bluebird." I am sure that this must be true, because they are such a beautiful creation of God. They make me happy to see. Maybe that is because blue is my favorite color.
I got this image in an image swap. I colored it with prisma colored pencils. I masked it and used chalks to make the greenery behind him. I quilled a flourish in the corner.
