Giving thanks in all circumstances journal page - gel printing texture with broccoli

Today in my Bible Junk/Art/Journal, I decided to do 

1 Thessalonians 5:18

I started by putting white paint down on both pages. These pages started life as a church bulletin and an employee letter home for Dr. Pepper to their employees about winter weather clothing. 

I don't usually gesso or put white paint down but I really wanted a blank canvas.

After the paint dried I got out my set of kingart gel crayons. I bought them last Christmas but I have struggled using them. Today I had some success. 

I scribbled just to add color down.

I then sprayed the page with water and spread color around with my fingers. 

I made gel prints using my gel press and a broccoli stem. (what was left when I cut off the blossoms)

Doesn't it make a cool organic texture?

 

I stamped music notes and this cute little bird from Sweet n Sassy Singing Praises set.

Christmas Icons-Nativity

I used gilding flakes on the star. I outlined the nativity die with a white gel pen. I added a used tea bag crumpled up and pearls and gold crochet thread. 

This is what the monoprint looked like before I die cut it down.

ARTplorations Strung Lights Slimline Stencil

I started with a paper lunch bag.

I crumpled it up into a ball.

I took embroidery floss to go around the balled up bag to make the ribs of the pumpkin.

I covered the little paper pumpkin with these prints that I made using my gel press and my new STRUNG LIGHTS SLIMLINE STENCIL

After the glue dried I went over the ribs of the pumpkin with a heavy twine. I saturated the top of the twin with glue and twisted to make the stem of the pumpkin.

STAMPlorations Happy Birthday Leaf Print Card

 

This card was made with mulitiple layers of prints on my gel press.  I started by putting reds yellows and oranges on my gel press. I then put a leaf from my yard on it as a mask. I took off the paint from around the leaf and put a layer of blue and green down. I used ARTplorations Leaf Prints 4 slimline stencil. And because it was several layers I let them dry and then pulled the print by covering over the whole plate with white. I really loved how this one turned out. After the print dried, I added giliding flakes.

ATC with butterflies Happy Birthday STAMPlorations

 

To make my ATCs I made several prints on my gel press. I used ARTPlorations Tribal Triangles.

I then used ARTplorations Leaf Prints 4 Slimline Stencil . with glue and gilding flakes. I stamped and cut out butterflies from STAMPlorations Blossom like a Butterfly.  (which is currently out of stock but you can get the digital butterfly  for only $2.) The sentiments are from STAMPlorations Bloom Happy Stamp Set.

Fall Watercolor

For Watercolor Wednesday on SCS I decided to play along this week. So I pulled out my watercolors and painted with Fall as my inspiration. I then put my two paintings into my Proverbs junk journal. Still practicing my lettering. One thing I learned today when journaling and painting don't do it when you are super tired. I fell asleep painting the leaves on the top one and had to add leaves where I didn't plan because when I fell asleep the paint brush landed on the paper. I also fell asleep while lettering. So that is why my lettering on a couple of words looks a bit off.
