Coffee Lover's Blog Hop Spring Summer All Blooms

STAMPlorations  Is a Super sponsor for the hop and has been for several of them. Shery is very generous and has amazing products.
I used ARTplorations Stencil called ALL BLOOMS

I used white paint and my gel plate

Here is how the white on white looked before I watercolored it.

I watercolored the flowers. With the watercolor paint going over the acrylic paint.  I used Japanese stab binding to make a little art journal.

Next project I did the white on white again but this time I left it with just the white on white

I had a scrap piece of cardstock that I had printed with my gel plate. I used that piece with CUTplorations Zen Coffee Cup Layering Dies
preview-stamplorations-layeredzencoffeecups
I love how the rainbow look of the monotyped dic cut coffee cup and the white on white background. I did stab binding on this little journal.

My third project used the same ALL BLOOMS stencil and my gel plate.

How the gel plate looked when I pulled up the stencil after I had put the white acrylic paint on.

Unlike the first project I did where I added the water color after I printed it, This time I put the paint right to the gel plate. I  sprayed it with a mist of water before putting on my white cardstock.

Doesn't it make an amazing cool abstract floral print? Again I made this into a little art journal with the stab binding.

Hello Spring- Spring Fling Blog Hop and Linky Party

You can still join us for the Spring Fling Blog Hop and Linky Party.

I made this fun spring card. I used
preview-doodledtulips
and
preview-springtime

I used the stencil and my gel plate to make a monoprint. I added the sticker, I doodled stiching lines and added a black mat. This was a super easy and quick card. It took longer for the paint to dry than it did to make the card once the print was made.

Take captive every thought

Outside my door this morning. This lilac bush is in bloom and has such a lovely fragrance. I thought it would be a challenge to water color it.

The other day I told my friend Susan that the reason I think I struggle with painting leaves, is I put them on the page after the flowers. They are an afterthought and I probably rush them too much so I decided to do them first on this painting. I painted them and even added some abstract green in the back for the leaves that are beyond my focal point. The flowers looked like they would be pretty easy. Just lines off of a central line, but it was harder than it looked to make them seem random.
I ended up putting 3 layers on the flowers with 3 different shades of purple. I added more shading to the leaves.
I used a pencil to sketch in the portion of scripture.
I then went over the pencil marks with a fine point sharpie marker. I did reshape a couple of letters on the go as you can see some of the ghostly pencil marks outside of where I used the sharpie.

I erased the pencil marks and thickened the down strokes. I used a straight edge and markers to frame it before putting it in my bible art journal.

Spring Fling- Bible Art Journal Page

Join STAMPlorations for our SPRING FLING blog hop and linky party.

Happy Spring.  This has been an interesting year so far hasn't it. Who would have guess that 2020 would be like this? I have been spending a lot more time in my Bible Art Journal.  I really like how this page in my journal turned out. Let me tell you about it.

I started by taking ARTplorations Doodle Tulips stencil.
preview-doodledtulips

I used the stencil with my gel plate and white acrylic paint and white cardstock.
This is the print that I got.

I then took watercolors and colored over the painted areas. I then splattered the page.

I have been focusing on the presence of God.  Our only hope is that God is with us. We can be with him because he loves us. John 3:16.  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

I chose to do hand lettering of Psalm 33:22

Prizes:
- THREE (3) winners of $10 gift code drawn from comments left on the main blog and designers' blogs
- TWO (2) winners of her choice of STAMPlorations product with a value of up to $10 drawn from comments left on the main blog and designers' blogs
- TWO (2) winners of her choice of STAMPlorations product with a value of up to $15 drawn from entries in the linky party
- ONE (1) winner of $25 gift code drawn from entries in the linky party

Commenting and linking up end on Sunday, May 31, with winners announced on June 10 in the May winners post.

I used a scrap monoprint that had complimentary colors to make an interesting mat.

Angel page

The thought process for my bible journal page with an angel.

I started by reading Exodus 23:20-22
After reading I knew I wanted to paint an angel for my bible art journal.
I typed angel into the search bar on Pinterest and this was one of the results that popped up.
A painting by
Ivan Guarderrama

I turned the photo upside down. By turning it upside down I was able to draw the basic shapes, not the "angel" image I might have in my imagination.

I sketched it lightly with a pencil.

Then with my drawing still upside down, I water colored the angel.
Putting colors down similar to the inspiration photo.

How my finished angel looked when I turned it right side up and carefully erased the pencil marks.
(hint- make sure the water color paint is completely dry so erasing doesn't tear the paper.)

Bible journal pages for 5-1-20

I was very busy today creating and studying my bible and spending time in creative worship.  I was running out of room in my little bible art journals so I got my sewing machine out and made a few more today. I think it is so fun to have a "NEW" journal to create in.  This first page is for a bible study that I am part of that is studying the attributes of God. I had 3 little strips of cardstock left over from making the little albums. I decided to paint flowers on each strip and put them in my journal and write the scripture on a separate strip. This is for the attribute of God's Lordship, Power and Majesty.  The scripture for that is Psalm 29:4

If you would like to join us at Sacra Via Scripture Study, Art and Journaling, you can check that out here:

Another bible study that I am a part of is: YOU ministries Bible Journaling
This week we are focusing on the SOAP method. So of course I had to add some soap bubbles.  Along with learning methods of journaling we are studying about Obedience.

The last page is for a bible study that I am doing with some friends on facebook. The lesson this week was about being drawn to God. The art prompt was to draw. So I drew this butterfly and then watercolored it then added one of the scriptures from this week's lesson. I have tried to draw butterflies before, but because I had an idea in my head of how it should look, I didn't draw what I was looking at but more what I was feeling. My sister and I when we were little read that if you turn what you are drawing upside down it tricks your brain into drawing more what you see. I saw this butterfly with rainbow on pinterest. I turned the picture sideways and then drew it.
