Snowflake double tag

This is Tuxedo. The newest member of our family. Don't you love his little goatee? My daughter said he is a hipster kitty.

Here is a double snowflake card that I made for this week's Splitcoast Stampers MIX-ability challenge.
SNOWFLAKES

I started by putting white acrylic paint on my gel press.

How it looked after I brayered the white paint.
I next dropped dots of ink on top of the paint. I have found that if I put a layer of paint down then the ink it makes a nicer print.
The brayered ink layer on top of white paint layer.

I opened an embossing folder and pressed into the ink and paint on the gel press. Making sure I put the side down that had the raised texture.

Before the ink and paint on the embossing folder dried, I embossed a piece of cardstock.

This is how that piece of embossed cardstock looks.

Then I put 2 pieced of cardstock on the gel press. I cleaned my brayer on the top piece.

These are the 3 different coordinating papers that I created. I used them to make my tag. I also punched out snowflake and added sequins, jewels, twine and cheesecloth.

oversized card

My friends asked me to make a big sized card that many people could sign. I made this jumbo card. I really struggled with making a card so much bigger than I usually make, but I think it turned out.

I used a gelli plate and acrylic paint to make this double tag. I used delicate leaves stencil on top tag and leaves 1 on the bottom tag. I outlined the tags with a black marker and I added cheesecloth  and twine. The top tag I cut the bird so it would be "out of box" when I die cut the tag. I watercolored the stamped leaves and bird on bottom tag and bird on top tag with a deep blue color.

I used the plate with white on white and added glitter. It could be sparkly for snow, but I was thinking bells could also be used as a wedding card.

New Life

My crafty friend and fellow mixed media team member changed addresses earlier this month. She left her earthly home for her heavenly one. She loved art, mixed media, butterflies, music, her family, and mostly she loved Jesus and God. So, while I am sad that we won't be crafting together or chatting on facebook, we will see each other again because we are sisters in Christ.  Do you have a relationship with Jesus? It is the only way to heaven. If you have questions leave a comment and I'll talk to you about my relationship with him.

Melissa and I shared with each other Christian music that we liked, so I choose to listen to music as I crafted.

This is what I listened to when I was creating this card for Melissa's family. It is one of my favorite songs. It tells of our journey of faith from weak and wounded sinner to victorious flying to Jesus. I imagined the joy Melissa felt when she left this world to fly to Jesus.

My card celebrates New Life.

I wanted it to look like the butterflies were flying when you open the card. I cut the butterflies and attached them to a piece of twine. Problem is that they dropped down when card was closed. So I added another piece of twine to sort of anchor them in place. If I make another card like this I will have to tweak my design a little bit more, but I like how this turned out. It was hard to photograph. I took a couple so maybe you can see how it looks. The inside of the card has the old hymn "It is well with my soul".

The past few weeks in my life have been filled with sadness, troubles and trials. I have purposely been looking for God's blessings.  Blessings, even when small can remind me of  God's goodness and remind me to be thankful. A delicate butterfly, leaves changing, little wildflowers, a warm cup of coffee... Count your blessings name them one by one... count your blessings see what God has done....
