I used the butterfly from MFP:
Daffodil Greetings- Stamp Set
Butterflies need beautiful flowers. My flowers are a little mixed media style. I am sure that is a not a shock to anyone who follows my blog. The splitcoaststampers mixed media challenge this week is to paint flowers. Stamping is allowed, but not on the flowers.
This is the photo that was my inspiration.
I sketched the flowers quickly with a pencil on white cardstock.
I watercolored the flowers using crayola markers on acetate and water.
I ran the flower panel through my cuttlebug using my script embossing folder. I added gold metallic rub over raised areas, I sprayed the flowers with a really fine mist of old spray. I added gold wink of stella on the centers of the flowers. I put little drops of white acrylic paint for highlights on the centers.
I decided to have burlap and a brown paper doily to go with the flowers.
I stamped the butterfly with light grey ink. The technique that I tried on Monday, where you stamp the image with light ink and gov over it with a pencil to make it look like it was sketched. I thought it would go well with my sketched and painted flowers.
I added gold wink of stella to the body, and I made the antenna out of gold thread. I drew a flourish with a pencil. Went over it with the gold metallic rub, but finally went over that with glue and glamour dust glitter.
Thanks for reading this long post. I hope you have a blessed day today.
