My first card used scraps from my scrap basket. I embossed them. I added the scripture that was printed on vellum. I've had it for several years. Today just seemed the right card to use it on. I water colored the sunflower and stitched around the edges.
For my second card, I did paper tole on the flower. I added lace and embossed with the dotted swiss embossing folder.

I love sunflowers. I have them all over my house. I would have them planted outside my house, but I have a deer problem. About 10 deer call my yard home and eat anything that grows. I love to drive by a field of sunflowers. It makes me feel so happy. What I really like about sunflowers is how they will follow the sun as it makes its way across the sky. Now how they do it? I don't know. It is a wonderful example though for me to follow the SON through out my day. Today, was still rough, missing my daughter, I was also really stressed with work. I have wonderful friends who prayed for me. I could feel their prayers. After that, I tried to find things to be thankful for and to foster a positive attitude. That helped me so much. So.. bring on the sun, I mean the SON.
I love this song by John Denver. I played it off and on all day.
Your cards are beautiful! I love the paper tole you did and the added lace and embossing is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI like that song too but it makes me cry so couldn't play before work. Great texture on your cards - I adore that first one.
ReplyDeleteAs always, MariLynn, you have created two gorgeous flower cards! Love the lace.
ReplyDeleteI love the embossing folder you used on your first card, MariLynn. And what a good job with the paper tole on the second one.

Pretty cards, MariLynn. Love the textured bg on the first one. Of course, the second has a beautiful lace.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you're missing your daughter. It is one of those things mothers have to endure. It is sure to get better...just hang on.
Beautiful cards! I think it is amazing how sunflowers do that, too. I s giant fields of them on our trip to Kansas to drop MacKenna off. Be strong!

ReplyDeletegreat card...
ReplyDeleteThe background on your first card is awesome. That is a great embossing folder and perfect for a sunflower.
ReplyDeleteThis BEE likes the Bee & sunny cards. Especially like the lace. I'm a fan of John Denver's music. Read the story about how you nmed your blog & your nickname. I enjoyed watching McGyver show. Now I watch Royal Pains and the dr. on the show is like a McGyver when he uses whatever he has when he does not have all the right tools.
