I started my project for today using pale purple cardstock and

CUTplorations CRAZY DOUBLE RUNNIN STITCH NESTING RECTANGLE DIES

I also cut thin strips out of the pale purple cardstock.

I started by taping the strips to the back of the "frame".

 Then I wove the strips to make the trellis for my card. 

I had a mono print that I had made using markers and my gel pad. It had an abstract feeling. I thought it would make a good background for behind the trellis. I wanted a little texture so I embossed it with music notes. This photo also shows some of the flowers.

I made these 3-d flowers by stamping some of the flowers from 

STAMPlorations: IT'S A GIRL THING- SUNSHINE

I colored the flowers and fussy cut them out. I cut a big flower and 2 of the smaller flower for each of the 3-d flowers. It was a lot of stamping coloring, cutting, layering and gluing but I think it was worth it. I also put glitter in the centers of the flowers. Some I did with teal glitter and some I did with purple glitter. Because I watercolored the flowers, no two flowers looked exactly the same. Just like they would in real life. 

I added some die cut leaves and made it an easel card.

The butterfly and flower on the inside work as the stoppers for the easel. The sentiment was stamped on a scrap piece of cardsotck. I used the sentiment from

With this really pretty garden, I just knew that it would make a perfect home for my butterfly. (Look for this butterfly to visit all my projects for the Spring Fling.)

My project for inspirations this month is an easel card.

I used this piece of dp to go behind my images. I thought it was kind of neat to have the "seats" and think about the Mercy Seat, and how Jesus is our Mercy Seat, the only way we can have our sins forgiven before God. "Your MERCIES are NEW every morning." 

For the split panels on the front of the card, I did a mono print using the honey comb stencil and acrylic paint on my gel plate. I then stamped butterflies and the art marks. I also stamped in blue a retired STAMPlorations set called Mini mixed media. (If you look closely you can see the little music notes) Then I cut it into the 4 panels.

I was given the digital image of TAVI to work with.

Isn't he adorable? I wanted to make a magical world for him. I used my gel plate and re inkers to make my background. I am going to do a tutorial on how I did it sometime in the near future if my schedule permits. I stamped little stars in the corners. I added teal and purple glitter and rhinestones to the background. (You can see the glitter and rhinestones in the finished photo.)

Tavi is popped up on dimensionals. I added further dimension by matting the image with faux mats using 2 markers and  a ruler.

I started my project by taking a piece of cardstock that I had previously done a mono print with acrylic paint and my gel block. I then took a ruler and drew 3 lines down and 4 across. The result was a grid to work on.

I took post it notes and masked off the individual areas. Then using black stazon ink, I stamped the flowers from Pocket Blooms on to each of the masked off areas.

I used white and yellow acrylic paint to paint the daisies.

I alternated the sections that I put the daisies on and left some blank.

I wanted to add some more interest. So I used my Abstract oats stencil and a green marker to fill in the sections that didn't have flowers on them.

One layer butterfly z cards

This last week my wonderful crafting friend Pam bought me the ALLOW YOURSELF Unity Stamp set.

  

I wanted to play with it right away, but I didn't I used it as incentive to clean up my craftroom. It really needed a spring cleaning. So today I had a couple of minutes to craft. Unity had a mini challenge to make a 1 layer card. I wondered if I could make a mixed media card with just one layer.
I did some masking and faux layering with makers and a ruler. I made 2 "Z"fold cards. I also used my gel plate to make the background.

This next photo shows how the z fold looks. I have a scripture stamped on the inside. 

as a disclosure... I did add to my one layer card. I didn't cut the antenna out. I am not that good. I cute a slightly wider than a hair piece of black cardstock to make the antenna. To me it still is a one layer card. I just added back a layer that I cut off. Leave a comment and tell me w hat you think. Does it still count as one layer?

mixability challenge: neutral background

Mix-Ability challenge on SCS is to use neutrals to make an interesting background.  I put 6 different brown re-inkers onto an acetate folder and then transfered it to my gel plate to make a mono print.

I really liked how the colors mixed and added great texture.I wanted a little more though...

I put my STAMPlorations ARTplorations ROSEGARDEN stencil onto my gel plate.

I put gold acrylic paint onto the stencil.
