The card I made today was inspired by my friend Maxine. she had a card on her blog that showed quilted butterflies. She got the idea from this tutorial by Michelle Pearson
I used 3 different patterned papers for my paper quilt.
I glued the patterned triangles onto white typing paper with glue sticks..When the glue dried, I sprayed the top with gold shimmer paint. Then I let that dry. I noticed a couple of the edges curling up, so I put a layer of white glue over the entire top and let that dry.
Instead of butterfly dies, I decided to use my new leaf die. I was able to cut out 12 leaves. I started to emboss them and rub copper inka gold over the tops. You can see those in this next photo. I decided not to do any more because I thought it took away from the look of the quilts. ( I estimated that by the time I cut glued sprayed glued and cut again it took 3 hours to make the 12 leaves.A little time consuming, but the look when they were finished was awesome.)
I decided to make my card using the Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge SC506
I wanted to pick paper that would not conflict too much with the leaves. I was surprised how different the backgrounds looked. I tried it with a light gray, dark brown and a cream colorl
I ended up using a combination of the cream and the dark brown.
I also ended up using an oval instead of a circle because it fit my sentiment better. I outlined all the panels and the leaves with a gold pen.
I added pearls and made it an easel card.
Here are some close up photos of the leaves. They are each so different.
This is what I was listening to while I was making this card.
I am going to share this card in the Word Art Wednesday challenge. WAW150
