Nautical bookmark

 I made this Bible journaling cascade bookmark using some old Stampin' up designer paper. I love the nautical theme. This was a really fun project to make. Being two sided made it really easy to use. I didn't have to stamp or anything. All I had to do was cut the papers, score them and glue them to the bookmark. This project has a belly band that holds the little flaps down. I die cut 3 circles and fussy cut out the little octopus.  

Cased Wedding Card

My mother in law needed me to make a wedding card for two friends of hers who are getting a second chance at love. I went on Pinterest and it took me to THIS BLOG. I knew right away that I wanted to make a card inspired by Karen, who herself said that her card was inspired by others who made simlar cards.  . I used different supplies to get to a similar look. What you can't tell from the photo is the bride puzzle piece is covered with sparkles. I used my nuvo Glamour Glitter Pen to go over the surface. What is also hard to see from the photo is that the white square base is embossed. I made this card into an easel card. I used a white gel pen to write congratulations and the name of the bride and the groom. 
 My card differs from the inspiration card in that I didn't add buttons on the groom puzzle piece, but I did put a bow tie. a cut piece of black cardstock.  Sometimes you just has to CASE. Copy and Share everything another artist's card. My mother always said "imitation is a sincere form of flattery." She is right. 

Pop and twist baby card

Last week for the watercolor Wednesday for SCS. it was how to paint a moon. I made this envelope and pop and twist card for my mother and father in law to give to a friend of theirs who just had a baby boy. I looked at several different images on pinterest but this card was freehand drawn and painted.

I used Blossom Sprays #5 on kraft and watercolored it. I wrote a handwritten sentiment. This is going to my friend who lost her husband recently.

Recently I joined a weight loss group. I thought it would be fun to use the Blossom Sprays #5 to make encouragement cards. This is how they looked but then I thought they needed just a little something more.... Butterflies. 

So I added little wooden butterfly buttons to the cards. They were a big hit. Everyone loved them. 

I have been making a lot of postcards lately because they are cheaper to mail.  I made this one using the Blossoms Spray #5 but I also used the border die from the bundle. But I used it in a non traditional way. I put a piece of cardstock over it and used the side of a colored pencil to make an etching. I trimmed it down to make a border on my postcard. 

My grandson Noah and I have been telling eachother puns to make the other one smile. I thought he would like this one. I used the design blox #6. I traced it and watercolored orange and blue. I then used colored pencils to doodle over the orange areas.  I then hand wrote the pun. I have decided against sending this to him because when I told him the pun over the phone he got upset and didn't like that it was making fun of his name.   My dad said that 1/2 of puns are PU. I guess he was correct.

4th of July post card - Patriotic water color tutorial

Fourth of July patriotic water color card tutorial

I started with my card front  5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches. 

I sketched out a box in the top left hand corner that was 2 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches

Using a red water color paint, I painted 4 stripes leaving 3 white in between. They are about 1/4 inch wide.

I then skipped about 1/4 inch then did three more red lines. I then used some little tree stamps and stamped them at the bottom. Making sure that some of the trees covered the bottom of the "flag"

I then used some blue water color paint to paint the left hand corner.

I then splattered the "flag" with red and blue water color paint.  

I then took black paint and painted over the trees and the bottom to make the trees look like silhouettes. 

I made it mixed media by splattering white acrylic paint for the stars and I took red colored pencils and doodled on the red lines. 

I finished it off by doodling with a white gel pen.

Spring Blog Hop and Linky party

 Welcome to the Spring Blog Hop and Linky Party for STAMPlorations. 

Two times I tried to type Spring Blog HopE instead of Hop. I guess that is because it is still really cold at my house. I have neighbors who still have their heat on. We had one day in the last 3 weeks that was 85 degrees then the rest have been so cold. On Sunday as we were making our way to church for Mother's day service, it was 39 degrees. So I have HOPE that spring is coming soon. Until then I can enjoy beautiful cards with flowers. This card that I am sharing was a quick card. It took me less than 10 minutes to make. I picked the colors from these flowers and I water colored the word die "hello"

 The card front only touches the card at the bottom and it is folded twice to make it an easel card.

May STAMPlorations Stencil Challenge. - The Way

 

Welcome to May's Stencil Challenge for STAMPlorations. 

I used ARTplorations stencil called DOODLED TULIPS

I used the stencil and my gel press to make this print. When it was dry I cut out an arrow. 

I made a print on my gel press using a balloon and green paints. That print I cut up for the background. I glued the arrow down and wrote the scripture around the edges.  I am not sure why but this pge really made me feel happy. I think it was the colors.

Peace bible journal page - Quick Card fronts (STAMPlorations0

My good friend Shery has a new product in her store. It is already decorated card fronts and atc cards. They are good if you want to make a one of a kind card fairly fast. But you know what else that they  are good for ? They are awesome ways to decorate a bible journal page .I picked this page that has these beautiful watercolored peonies. I thought it would be neat to have a pull out mechanism that had the scripture on it.

Watercolor ATC journaling Cards 

I handwrote "Peace of God' and Philippians 4:6-7. The last few weeks I  have been memorizing Philippians 4 in the King James Version. After 5 weeks I am up to verse 15.  I have done a fair amount of bible memory in my life but most are a verse or two together. I like the challenge to memorize a whole chapter with the eventual goal of the whole book.
