This set is a lot of fun to work with. The part of the Mississippi river that I live by has a lot of lotus blossoms in late summer. I took this photo of the lotus blossoms last summer with 4 Canadian Geese.

The lotus blossoms that are on the Mississippi River near me are  cream colored lotuses. I decided to be a little wild, I don't know if there are lotus blossoms this color, but I made a card with lavender lotus blossoms. I chose the lavender color to match the rose petal paper I made. I was given a rose by a friend. I waited until the petals started to wilt and even dry out a little. I put the petals in a bowl with water to rehydrate them. Then I randomly placed them on a piece of white cardstock. I covered them with another piece of white cardstock making a rose petal sandwich that I ran through my cuttlebug. I stamped and masked the smaller lotus blossom and then stamped the bigger lotus over it to add some extra dimension.

Here are two more cards I made using this set.

Do you know the difference between a lotus blossom and a water lilly? Come back tomorrow and I will tell you.

  5. Three beautiful cards using basically the same layout -- but very different. I especially like the first one with the deep purple background. And BTW your question intrigued me -- so I looked it up and found out the difference! I did not know that.

  11. How lucky you are to live near a place with water lilies. We have a water lily farm about 20 miles from us and we go there to take photos. They are quite beautiful. This set reminds me of those flowers. TFS!

  26. OMG all your cards are absolutely gorgeous. I'm surprised by your picture of the Canadian geese and the lotus together. In Australia here lotus are only seen in the wild in the tropic and not alongside geese that live in the snow but magpie geese.
