Growing in Unity day 4- Miracle of Light and Dark

Today is my fourth day for GROWING IN UNITY. Wow, how the week is flying by. For my card today I choose Phyllis Harris MIRACLE OF LIGHT AND DARK
I love this image of  fireflies or lightning bugs depending on where you live   It makes me think of when I was little and my family went to visit my Great Grandma Ruth and Great Grandpa Lige. My brother and sisters and I would try to catch them. We put them in jars and watched them as we fell asleep. To us they were magical because we didn't have any of them in the southwest where we lived. I had almost forgotten the joy of fireflies until my niece came to visit this summer. She is 6 and had never seen fireflies. She was thrilled and so excited to try and catch some. I made this card to send to her to remind her of the joy of simple things. By the way her name is JOY.
I water colored the image and added some details with prisma colored pencils. I also added glitter to the fireflies. I put her name on the side with faux scrabble tiles.
Close up to show the glitter.
Don't forget to leave a comment on my cards this week for a chance to win UNITY stamps. Come back tomorrow to see my last project for GROWING IN UNITY.

  6. MariLynn, I love the way you made your fireflies sparkle!!! This is such a sweet image and beautiful card! We took our kids camping on the Blue Ridge Pkwy one year and I have never seen anything like those fireflies. Thousands of them glowing like snow falling from the sky. Sadly they were too young to remember but I won't ever forget it!

  11. We don't have them here in Colorado, but I loved catching lightning bugs in Ohio growing up. We had so much fun. This is beautifully watercolored and I love the bit of glitter on the fireflies.
