My way of interpreting Thankfulness? Well, my daughter is expecting the arrival of my first grandchild in just a few days. I decided to make little thank you cards to give to the nurses and hospital staff.  Still waiting no baby. Here is the third card I made for the staff.

A touch of blue- OPPOSITES

With presidential elections coming up, there is so much negativity, and it seems to me that more than any other election people have a strong opinion one way or the other... I have seen people on facebook be just terrible to their "friends" who disagree with them. I challenged my friend Pam today in light of all this stress that we needed to make a card that showed that opposites can come together and make something beautiful. So I challenged her to make a black and white card. She said we needed a pop of color (I voted for blue, but just for this card LOL). I added we needed to add lace. We did this week's SCS sketch. I flipped the sketch. On my oval I added some silver inka gold metallic rub because I wanted it to look like a mirror. I wanted to remind people, including myself, that having a nicer, kinder place starts with the person we see in the mirror.

Stencil Sunday for STAMPlorations - little pumpkin

Hello friends. It is not too late to join ARTplorations Mixed Media Challenge. You can link up your non-card mixed media projects. The theme is always anything mixed media goes EXCEPT a card and you must use at least one stencil (any brand) on your project. Linky closes on the 31st.

Prizes: $15 gift certificate OR choice of any 2 ARTplorations stencils to the winner
choice of 1 ARTplorations stencil to the top picks

My project for this week's stencil Sunday is this cute little pumpkin. Can you see the stencil I used? Probably not but it is there. I took a page from my  STAMPlorations COLOR BLOOMS coloring book. I water colored the page with pinks oranges and yellows. I didn't worry about coloring in the images, just did overall blotches of color. Then I took my ARTplorations MERRY GO ROUND
stencil and placed it over the colored page. I traced the stencil with a black ink pen. then I colored the triangles in with darker colors of orange and then I added inka gold metallic rub inside the triangles. I chose this stencil, because the little triangles made me think of slices of pie. Who doesn't love pumpkin pie? I then cut the page into strips. I made loops with the strips an glued them together. I added a broken bamboo skewer for the stem. I added little multi-colored pearls and some wired leaves. The finished pumpkin is about 3 inches wide and about 2 inches tall.

STAMPabilities October Mixed Media Challenge- pumpkin magnet

It is the start of a new month. Time for ARTplorations  mixed media challenge. You are welcome to share your mixed media projects with us.  The theme is always anything mixed media goes except a card and you  must use at least one stencil (any brand) on your project. Linky closes at the end of the month.

Prizes: $15 gift certificate OR choice of any 2 ARTplorations stencils to the winner
choice of 1 ARTplorations stencil to the top picks

For my project I used:
ARTplorations stencil: BUBBLE DANCE
and the

I made a refrigerator magnet using a coaster that was given me from a Chili's resturant. I covered the coaster with ink spray smashed paper. I used the stencil to draw the bubbles. I shaded the left side of the bubbles. I added pearls of different colors. I glue some little alphabet tiles and some burlap to the top of that. I watercolored the pumpkin and leaves. I paper piece the cups with kraft paper. I curved the pumpkin over my finger to add some dimension. I glued a magnet to the back of the coaster.
