Enjoy the Hop. Come on back tomorrow for more creative fun!!

My dress for Sophia is not going to look like anyone else's because I made mine by masking and stamping components of the other outfits to make the wedding dress.
I stamped the short skirt first.
Then I stamped it on a post it note (in blue)
I cut out the post it note and covered the skirt.

I stamped the skirt again, but lowered it slightly.

Another skirt stamped on the post it note and cut out and put over second layer.
Then I stamped the long skirt over the post it note. I used the form fitting dress but cut away the collar to add the lacy one. I cut the skirt and dress out and covered them with cheese cloth. I added some embroidered flowers and pearls and a row of lace with flowers to the bottom. I made her hat and veil out of the embroidered flower and more cheese cloth. The background behind her reminded me of vintage wall paper. That is why I made it a wall and added the framed sentiments.

The sentimenst I hung on my card's "Wall" were from MFP set called SWANS
To frame the sentiments on the wall I used MFP set called ALL POSTAL

I made it an easel card to stand up. Since I put about 4 hours making the dress I think it should be displayed. I took some of the dp I used on the front and put that on the bottom of the easel and I punched the edge.

I think the dress looks like it could have been a wedding dress in the 1920's. What do you think?

The flexibility of this set is you don't have to just use it for paper dolls. You can stamp the image and then use paper piecing technique on the outfits . I was inspired by two very good friends when making this card. The dp was from my friend Pam and the flowers were a recent gift from my friend Paula. I used chalk to give Sophia a little color. I did faux stitching around the panels. I really liked how you can see the words flower and yarn.

Spring Flowers Challenge at MPC

Springtime has finally arrived. Warmer weather and ...yes flowers. The gals at Mountain Plains Crafters decided to make spring cards with flowers. I decided to make my card with quilled roses. I used  ODBDSLC234  sketch. It is kind of hard to see in my photo but I used cheesecloth for one of the panels. I replaced the circle on the sketch with my big butterfly. This card is for my good friend at church named Brenda.

I combined two challenges with the mushroom images for today's post. I used this week's splitcoaststampers sketch.  I also made this for the mixed media challenge for smooth as glass. I stamped the  mushrooms and water colored them. I added white acrylic paint for highlights and added shading with gold shimmer eye shadow. I made it smooth as glass by embossing with UTEE. I folded the mushrooms so that the tops stand out giving them dimension. I wanted to make a magical background for my mushrooms. I ink sprayed and smashed blues and greens and sprayed it with gold shimmer spray. I outlined the top panel with gold sharpie marker.

In February I shared my mini art journal. The pages are 2"x2 1/2" I punch holes in the top of each page and they are connected with rings. The little journal pages let me experiment with ideas that I might later use on a card. I stamped the sentiment and masked it. I then stamped the skull over it. I then masked the skull and I added print around them. I used a black ink pen to go over parts of the skull to make them darker. The pen lines make it look more like "I drew it" which is a look I was going for on this journal page. Can you tell I have kind of a twisted sense of humor to combine this sentiment and image. Also to clarify on my card yesterday I took the dog fur from my dog's brush. She is always shedding so it wasn't like I cut it off .

This card is totally Shirley's fault. We got to talking about pirates and dog fur. This is what happened. I added fur from my puppy to make the chest hair on this pirate. I heat embossed the sentiment. I made a treasure map with a brown paper bag. I burned the edges of the bag. I sprayed the black panel with gold shimmer spray. I added gold coins that were at one time a cereal box. I punched circles painted them and embossed them.

I made this card using the grid technique. I printed grid paper onto cardstock. I stamped the gardenia flower onto the grid and watercolored it. Each square is painted a different color. I took crayola markers and scribbled onto. I think it looks like a stained glass window. I sprayed it with gold shimmer paint and splattered white paint onto it.

Enjoy the Hop. Come on back tomorrow for more cre
ative fun!!

Hotdogger Card

My daughter's college roommate just found out that she was chosen as one of the 12 hotdoggers for this next year. What is a hotdogger? Well, you know the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile? Someone has to drive them. About 2000 college seniors apply for the 12 positions. The competition is tough but my daughter's friend made it. So of course I needed to make a card for her. I hand cut the pieces out of cardstock., I painted the face and added a sentiment printed on my computer.

He is Risen

Another card in anticipation of Resurrection Sunday. I used my computer to merge a digital image of the cross with graph paper. I then water colored each square. I sprayed gold shimmer paint over the cross panel. I outlined it using a gold sharpie marker. I heat embossed gold embossing powder at the bottom. The sentiment is from MFP EASTER STAMP SET

Give Unity Stamps a little love while you're at it.  "Like" them here on Facebook and tell them MPC sent you!  Check in Monday through Wednesday to see the fun Easter projects that our design team cooked up with Unity Stamps!

I had to get really creative with my card for this event. I have very few Easter stamps in my stash and none of my Unity Stamps are Easter ones. I'm not into eggs or bunnies or crosses. In fact I don't celebrate Easter, but I definitely celebrate Resurrection Sunday. I am thankful that Christ died for my sins, but what greater celebration, then celebrating that he didn't stay dead. That is why I used the sheet music to CHRIST AROSE, for the base of my card. I printed it on my computer and burned the edges.  These are the Unity stamps that I did use on my card.

I thought it would be neat to wrap roses from my "garden" in newspaper. I stamped the newsprint onto a pale green piece of parchment and made a cone. The flower from well wishes I stamped twice on tan cardstock, same as sheet music and used that as a background to glue my quilled roses to. I stamped the butterfly twice, colored it and cut it in half and layered two of the left sides on top of eachother.
I added pearls, lace, ribbon and a patterned paper card with roses on it to finish it off.

Thanks for looking and leaving a comment it means a lot to me.

3-d butterfly mix110

It was my turn to host the mixability challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com

My challenge was to pop up images on card/project. I decided to do 3-d paper piecing ( a paper tole technique). I stamped the butterfly several times and colored and cut. I layered the top wings more than the bottom wings so they would have more dimension.

It is really hard to see how shiny this card is. The little circle has wink of stella on it and it is so sparkly in the sunshine. I popped the card up on an easel card so you could see the piano keyboard.

red journal pages with coffee cup

Today is the day for the Spring coffee lovers bloghop, I know it is going to be as much fun as the others and filled with so many wonderful coffee projects.

I made some little mini journal pages with red mulberry paper found HERE.

I did the art journal similarly to the mini journal pages. However I started by painting the background with black acrylic paint. Then I added the mulberry ribbon. In between the layers of mulberry ribbon, I added gold thread. I also added tissue paper butterflies and coffee cup and clocks. When the pages were done I added dots made with white acrylic paint in the corners and on the butterflies.

This is for the Mixed Media Mojo February Challenge. Red with wings
I used the coffee cup from MFP set called Java Time.

red with wings

The challenge for Mixed Media Mojo Challenge for the month of February is to make a project with red and with wings. I made two mini journal pages with red and butterflies. I also did a two page spread in my art journal.

The red on the background was made with red mulberry ribbon. I used shiny finish mod podge to adhere it to the cardstock. I layered it to get texture. I sprayed it with gold shimmer paint because the mulberry ribbon had little gold flecks in it. I thought the gold sprayed paint would look good with it. The butterflies were stamped with black stazon onto white tissue paper. I colored the tissue paper with markers and used more mod podge to adhere them to the journal. After they dried, I outlined them with a gold sharpie marker. The pages still felt like it needed something. So I masked the butterflies and stamped the newspaper print over the background.

Coffee time

Today is the day for the Spring coffee lovers bloghop, I know it is going to be as much fun as the others and filled with so many wonderful coffee projects.

I made these two pages in my art journal. I painted the background. I put shiny  mod podge over the background. I stamped a classified newsprint stamp . I also stamped coffee rings from the MFP set called JAVA TIME. I paper pieced the coffee cups from MFP set called OH BEANS. The coffee beans are also from the OH BEANS set. I added highlights to cups and beans with white acrylic paint. I made little scrabble tiles to spell out COFFEE TIME.
