Welcome to Adornit-Mountains Plains Crafters blog hop. Today we are featuring the brand new Adornit coloring books made with heavy artist paper, perfect for multiple paint and coloring mediums. There will be awesome projects by the MPC design team showcasing the different coloring books. There will be clue words at each stop that will give you the phrase you need to have a chance to win one of these amazingCOLORING BOOKS. I have loved coloring in coloring books since I was little. Some of my earliest memories were of coloring with my sister. My mom had a box that looked like a little treasure chest. It was filled with crayons. Over the years we added used crayons to that box. As much as I loved coloring with those "used" crayons, I was always thrilled to open a new box of crayons. As I got older I continued my love of coloring with my stamping and crafting. The recent trend of adult coloring books was no surprise to me because I never stopped loved coloring. Now others are realizing and remembering how much fun coloring is. The coloring book that I have from Adornit isCREATIVE FAITH What makes this book special is the paper. It is thick, watercolor artist paper. You can color it with any coloring medium that you choose. I decided to do my project using watercoloring. I decided to go with vibrant rainbow colors.
After I finished coloring this page. I added photos of my family and put it in a frame. I am going to put this on my desk in my craft area.
The secret word that you need to collect from my page is "YOU" Next on the hop is my friend Jennifer's blog

Every little girl deserves to be loved like a princess. That is what I was trying to do when I made this card. I might have added too much bling...but can a princess have too much bling?

When I think of little kids I think of pop up cards. I decided to make a bifold card into a little barn. I added the animals from this set:

you are a winner. I used MFPstampshop set called: BUNDLE OF JOY
I stamped the buggy on watercolor paper. I added silver inka gold. I stamped a sentiment frame. I added a paper doily and sequins. This card is going to my Fried Rosalyn who just had her little boy last Friday. Thanks for looking. Thanks also for leaving comments.
This is the card I made for this week's mix-ability challenge for Splitcoaststampers. The challenge is to use a phrase on your card. I choose the simple one word phrase... JOY. I have been thinking about the difference between being happy and having joy. Being happy is dependent on circumstances, but joy is more of a choice and a state of mind. I can go through hard times and still have joy. My mother is an example of that to me. She is in pain a lot of the time. She may not feel happy because of the painful circumstances, but my mom has joy. She is content and she never complains. I am going to send her this card to let her know I'm thinking about her. It was really hard to photograph the sparkle of the glitter or show the shininess of the gold, so I made a quick video to try and show what a still photo can't.
which include themes for Halloween, Christmas, Adventure, Critters, Faith and more; 18 brand new pages to color with multiple images on each sheet. They're perfect for watercoloring, markers, colored pencils and more. Use them in multiple ways - cardmaking, scrapbooking, treat boxes, tags..... you're only limited by your imagination!
IT'S a lot of fun to sit and color. My favorite way to color is to use crayola markers. However I don't use markers the way most people do. IT'S a lot more fun to do it the way I do it. I take an acetate folder and I scribble on the folder with the markers. I spray a puddle of water onto the the folder and I paint with the marker's inks. IT'S cheap and it gives me quite a lot of colors to start with. By painting with the marker ink IT'S easy to blend the colors.
Here is a photo showing the marker scribbles, the water and the paint brush I used.
I colored the backgrounds first and let them dry before I painted the inside images.
When coloring the backgrounds I used a color wheel and kept in my mind the color that I wanted the images to be and tried to use complimentary colors.
You can see a couple of places where the color tried to escape the lines. This was partly due to the fact that my puppy dog jumped into my lap while I was coloring. Silly puppy. I wasn't too concerned about that because I knew I wanted to add some copper and gold to my card.
Both of these products are very similar. They add such a cool metallic look. I just dipped my paint brush in water and then into the metallic rubs and painted with the copper and gold.
Here you can see the gold metallic rub that I put between the rectangles as well as accents on the heart.
I used a bamboo skewer to dip into white acrylic paint to add dots.
I added glue and glitter. to make it sparkle. You can see the sparkle here:
Here is the finished card. I made it into an easel card.
If you are playing along with the hop you need to collect words along the way. IT'S not hard to figure out what my word is. However, if you really need a clue my word is actually a contraction of 2 words- It and Is.
I started by stamping leaves with versamark ink and embossing them with gold embossing powder.
Then I did ink spray smash technique to add some color. I used mostly cool colors for this part.
Then I water colored the leaves using warm colors. mostly yellows and reds
After that I sprayed the whole card with gold shimmer spray. I stamped with black stazon ink in the corners. I stamped Unity stamps (distressed criss/cross) and (classified newsprint). I used MFP set called Java Time for the cup as well as the coffee rings. I stamped the rings with versamark and stamped it on the background. The cup I stamped with black stazon ink and water colored it. I cut it out and put it with rhinestones for steam. I added the ribbon at the top with scrabble letters I made from a pizza box. I rubbed gold metallic lustre on the letters. I made my card an easel card. I added ribbon roses and lace to the inside. I used the gold shimmer spray on the white ribbon roses to make it match the card.
Now the word HOPE is used a lot in October in relationship to breast cancer. I "hope" that some day - ALL cancer is a thing of the past. Having said that, my card has HOPE on it for a different reason. Owning and running a business in a small town is really hard these days. A year ago a small coffee shop-art gallery-art supply shop opened in our town. Yesterday they celebrated being in business for 1 year. Now for those who live in big cities with lots of choices for getting your coffee, I'm happy for you. This is the ONLY coffee shop in our town. If you want anyone else to make your coffee it will be McDonalds. So I HOPE -"THE LOST CANVAS"-coffee shop-gallery and art supply shop will be in business for a long time to come. I plan to go this afternoon and give the owner this card.
