When I think of tulips I think of the Netherlands. My husband's family has a rich Dutch heritage, with some family still living in Holland. I wanted to make a wooden shoe card for my Father-in-law. I drew a wooden shoe and cut it out of brown cardstock. Then I stamped the tulips, masked the tulips and stamped some more and more till I had a huge collection. Then I watercolored them and cut them out and manipulated and layered the paper so that there was dimension..
I learned how to say Happy Spring in Dutch....
Gelukkige Lutke
My daughter is going to college in Pella Iowa. That is a town that takes it's Dutch Heritage seriously. They plant so many tulips all over town. They have a festival in May called TULIP TIME.

ReplyDeleteWhen we married in 2001, the centerpieces for the tulips were real wooden shoes. We honeymooned in The Netherlands!
That wooden shoe is terrific! My hubby ( and most of his family) played basketball for the TTown "Wooden Shoes." Wonderful card.
