 I decorated my cupcake to look like the cupcakes on the bottom of the photo. I had a lot of fun painting the cardstock and adding dots with a white gel pen. The background was made using the stencil and a gel plate.

Everyday fairytale - Hello sweet sunshine

 This weekend I sat at a tent for my church First Christian Church, Memphis, MO for Antique Fair Days. I did gelli printing with kids. I think my youngest was 4 and the oldest was in his 60's. Nothing like playing with acrylic paint and having fun to bring out the kid in all of us. A little girl who is in first grade made this one for me. She had a stack of about 20 other prints that she made so she didn't mind giving me this one.

I stamped the flowers from Unity set called Everyday Fairytale. It wasn't until I uploaded the photos that I realized what the script behind the flowers says. "Hello sweet sunshine. so glad you ..." I have played with this stamp several times and hadn't noticed what it said until today. I guess previously I was too focused on the flowers.

I painted the flowers with white acrylic paint.

Added color to flowers with water color paint. Added details with black ink pen and white gel pen,

I made it into a post card.  I did a scribble doodle on the kraft with the white gel pen and I also added some little white dots around the flowers. I used a black pen to doodle stitches to the white panel.

I thought this would be a fun time to practice my hand lettering. So this side of the post card was all drawn by hand. 

Butterfly bookmark

Today I made a really quick bookmark. I took a scrap of paper that I had mono printed with acrylic paint and my gel plate. What I liked about this scrap was the colors.

 I stamped on it using STAMPlorations Butterfly Row
and STAMPlorations Frames and Flowers
I highlighted with a white gel ink pen. I traced around the edges with a black sharpie marker and put it on a piece of kraft cardstock which I also traced around the edges with the black sharpie marker.

You are my sunshine mixed media cards

I made a trio of mixed media cards today.

This first one was made for the SCS Mixability challenge which was to take hand sanitizer and add reinkers and put your paper on it. MIX342. This was the piece I made with the sanitizer and reinker.

 On top of that piece I added a design of golds and yellows covered with dry wall tape and I went around the edges with hot glue gun. I took a black sharpie marker and colored the hot glue black and then added gold paint to the hot glue.

To finish it off, I added little torn pieces of mono printed cardstock to the "blue areas" and for the sun rays I added some water coloring and I added little black dots on the rays with a black ink pen. I doodled on the scraps. The "plantes" and the center of the sun I cut small circles of a piece of mono printed cardstock. I flooded them with Aleene's tacky glue to give them a shiny finish.

 Before this evening, my friend Kyra had actually planned on a different challenge. The challenge was to take baby oil and make your cardstock translucent and to use reinkers. I struggled with this challenge because I didn't have baby oil. I used cooking oil instead. Then I really didn't like how it looked.  My friend Kyra ended up changing her challenge because she also didn't like how the baby oil turned out. My number 1 rule of mixed media is "If you don't like it, work on it until you do like it." So I took that to heart.  I started with this mono print that I made using two different colors of reinkers, yellow and orange.

 I traced the sun and its rays and the two planets. You can see how it looks with the oil on it. It didn't look that good.

Here was a mono print that I made with blues and teal reinkers

I cut around the rays and sun and added  hot glue that I colored black and painted gold. 

 I enjoyed making those two so I decided to make a third one. I took a mono print that I made earlier in the week. It resembles the prints I made that I turned into the light house at sunset cards.

I added some drywall tape and the hot glue. I water colored to add more color to the sky.

The words love and the little hearts is from a STAMPlorations set called Frames and Flowers.

I saw a card today that really inspired me. I rarely CASE anyone but this card really sang to me.

I used this mono print that I made with bubble wrap to make my card.

 I stamped the rose and painted it with white acrylic paint and watercolors. I drew the piano keyboard with a marker and ruler.

sunset easel cards

Today's SCS color challenge. CC752

My first thought was a sunset. Before I share my projects, I am going to share a couple of photos that were my inspiration for today's project. I took these at sunrise this summer. 

It was such a beautiful sight in real life to see the sun over the ocean. My cards can't even begin to compare to the master artist. I did have fun creating my cards.

I started both cards by doing mono prints on my gel plate. I used my finger to make a circle of yellow then I used a crumpled up magazine page to add pink and blue. I then used a piece of cardstock to add the horizon line. 

 I took watercolors to fill in some of the white areas. 

 I stamped the lighthouse from STAMPlorations set called TRUE NORTH

 Added the ship.

 Painted lighthouse and ship with white acrylic paint.

 Water coloring, white gel pen and black ink pen to finish it off.

 I made my card easel style. I stamped the compass to make the stopper for the easel. 

Second card was made the same way, just with a different print.
