Permission to create

Sometimes I get into an artistic slump. I know I am not alone.
I sit at my desk wanting to create, but not sure where to start.
I think the stress comes because I want everything that I create to
be something SPECIAL, or FABULOUS. or whatever adjective you pick.
I watched a Youtube video that gave permission to create UGLY ART.
Meaning don't worry about if it is ugly or pretty just create.

Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad
Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don't worry that it's not
Good enough for anyone
Else to hear
Just sing, sing a song

Just as the song says "Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone..."

So I gave myself permission to just create.
I started by going to Pinterest. I typed "MIXED MEDIA BLUE ROBIN" . My intention was to get some inspiration. I picked the project that spoke to me. This was the project. I liked the little bird with the heart.

So I pulled out a scrap of paper and sketched the little bird. At this point I shut off pinterest and let my own creativity take over.

was to celebrate World Water day.  I sketched my little bird again on some white cardstock.
I chose to watercolor my little bird.

After I watercolored him I wanted to add a circle like the inspiration photo but I had my oval stencil on my desk and I didn't want to have to look for my circles. So I added an oval that I decided to turn into a flower stem. I then added some marker, ink pen, stamping, colored pencils cheesecloth, sequins, and splattered white acrylic paint.
It isn't a masterpiece but I had a lot of fun in the creative process.

I made this card for:

Spring Dancing in the rain

m2118

I used the yellow on her raincoat and umbrella, I used the blue and brown for the background. The pink is in the flowers on her dress and purse.

The Unity facebook challenge is to paper piece.
I am also sharing this with WORD ART WEDNESDAY 326-327

I drew and painted in some raindrops. I added a piano keyboard to play to music on so she can dance.

With the scraps of paper that I had left over from making my card.
 I made a bible bookmark.
I used my CUTplorations

Spring cards with friend

Today my friend Pam and I celebrated the first day of spring making cards together. I am so thankful for technology that lets us visit like we were in eachother's craft rooms.

We were going to use a daffodil set that we both had. Unfortunately for me I couldn't find that set. I looked high and low and had to give up. So we decided to make cards using the tulip set we both had.

It was so hard to wait for the sparkles to dry on the flowers. But it looks really sparkly and cool.
I stamped Our Daily Bread "IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL" music stamp on the designer paper.
I made this card for a friend at church who is having health issues.

Since my friend Pam and I both added sparkle to the centers of our tulips we needed to make something else while we waited for the cards to dry. I suggested we make piano cards and use daffodils. She used the set that we were going to use but mine is still lost... and I used another daffodil set that I had. We had fun making the pianos. I even played a song for her on mine.  JOY TO THE WORLD.  I made this card for another friend at church. She plays the piano and organ for worship service.

Typografia in FAITH - Spring and Faith

With springtime weather in the air and Resurrection Sunday only a few weeks away, this is perfect time to reflect on our faith. I don't know about you, but I love it when there is more sunshine. The winter days where the days are short and have very little sunshine can have a negative effect on me. My husband doesn't like it but I hate having windows covered. I am always opening all the drapes and curtains to let as much sunshine in as possible. Sunlight or SON-light is what I was trying to portray with this fabulous Typografia in Faith stamp called
0preview-TInfaith-TheLightofMen

I used an ARTplorations stencil called:

preview-stencil121-JustFlow

I used "dried marigold" distress ink with the stencil. I then took a thin yellow marker and scribbled in the "white" space. I added a layer of gold glitter glue around the gold panel on my card. Glitter is so hard to photograph. It is super sparkly in real life.

My next projects  use the new Typografia in Faith stamp called:

 0preview-TInfaith-AmazingGrace
It is so versatile. I made a masculine and super feminine card using the same stamp but different papers and embellishments.

Poppies in my garden

In my garden  was the Simon Says Monday challenge. In my garden are growing poppies.
The Way to Use it Challenge 677- was the Splitcoast Stampers Challenge to make 3-d paper piecing.
For the layout I used:  Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 #131

I am also entering it to Word Art Wednesday 325

I made my card into an easel card. The inside has a sentiment from my favorite Verve set. I also drew tear drops.

STAMPlorations Typografia Romantique projects

MyThanks for joining us for the STAMPlorations release of TYPOGRAFIA ROMANTIQUE

I have three fun projects to share with you.

My first project was an easel card. I started with this
dp that was sitting on my desk.

I stamped the sentiment added used tea bags, handmade roses, a branch and a die cut heart. I added glitter to the die cut heart as well as the stamped hearts. To finish it off I added three little pearls.

Here is the set I used for this first card.

For my second project, I made a cute little bookmark. My daughter is a librarian and I am always making her bookmarks that she can give away to students at her library. I was going for a
Kilroy look alike.

I used CUTplorations Tag 'O Coffee die and cut out a tag. I stamped the sentiment onto the tag. I then die cut a large circle and small circle. out of peach cardstock. I also cut a heart out.
I cut the small circle in half to make his hands. I used a pen to draw lines on the hands and to make his smile. Then I glued the giant wiggle eyes down to the circle. I also glued the hands and the big circle to the tag. I made it look like he was holding the heart too.

I placed the eyes at an uneven level so that his face would have more expression.

This is the stamp set I used for this bookmark.

And this is the die I used for this bookmark.

My last project was probably my favorite of the three to make.
For this card I only used white cardstock.
I used ARTplorations stencil called Delicate Leaves.
I used two different crayola markers to trace the stencil onto the white
cardstock. I then ink spray smashed the panel and splattered ink
and stamped on of the silhouetted butterflies from
STAMPlorations Trendy Butterflies with distress ink.
I also used a retired STAMPlorations set called mini mixed media backgrounds to add the music notes.
I then stamped the sentiment and that is when the fun began.
I took white acrylic paint and added highlights to the sentiment. You could use a white gel pen and probably get the same look. The white highlights make it look like I hand lettered when all I did was add a little bit of white. This really cool typografia sentiment makes it so easy to look like a lettering professional.
