When I started making my card for today's splitcoaststampers sketch challenge (SC586), I pulled out some of my quilled roses, a butterfly, some ribbon, lace and some papers that made me smile.
This is the easel card I created. I distressed the edges of the panels. I added pearls, twine, floral filler, cheesecloth and rhinestones to what I had already pulled out.
I like making easel cards for a couple of reasons. Mostly because they stand up and the recipient can put it on a table or desk or shelf and display the card easily. Another reason, I figured out the other day, is it forces me to decorate the inside of the card as well. I used to forget to decorate the inside. On this card I did something I rarely do, I put my butterfly flat against the cardstock. I did it that ways so the card could fold. other wise I would have had the wings shaped and 3-d, like the butterfly on the front of the card.
I embossed and distressed the inside before adding the lace and sentiment.
This card is going to be going to my baby sister who is turning 35 next month.
This will be entered in Word Art Wednesday Challenge 224-225
