When I thought about the prompt for today, Simple Things. I asked myself this question. "What is it that I love that is simple? The thought that came to me was music. It is simple so that children can do it. It can be as simple as clapping your hands for rhythm and singing a song. I love my ukulele. It brings me simple pleasure when I bring it out and strum along to a song I'm singing. No electricity or batteries required. This was my first attempt. I really like how the body of the Ukulele turned out. I really like how the neck of the Ukulele turned out. What I didn't like is that they weren't in proportion to eachother. The neck was way too small.
So here is my second attempt.
Since my second Ukulele was all watercoloring I decided to make this one a bit more mixed media. I added ink pen. to the score.
I liked how the musical score looked but I still felt like something was missing. I added a piano keyboard at the bottom. I do love playing the piano too. I still felt like it was missing something. I know a lot of people like CAS projects, but I don't really like all the white space. So...
I stenciled in some flowers using
I really liked the finished project. What do you think? Which Ukulele project did you like?

Girl, you are amazing the way you can draw. Wish I had such talent as you. And, then to play the ukelele too! Your finished design is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you Verna. My brother, sister and daughter all play ukulele too. My daughter took one that she bought when she started college on her mission trip to Africa. She helped with leading worship and when she came home, she left her ukulele there to bless the church she had helped at.
DeleteI love the development through to your final painting MariLynn, and that you have shared the journey - I really like the second one with just the ukulele, but the movement and colours in the final one is also very pretty and appealing.
