For today's inspiration challenge, I was inspired by this cardinal ornament. I quilled the cardinal. I still have a lot of learning when it comes to quilling. I am basically trying to teach myself by looking at what others have done. I think I need to use a different glue, or I need to be more patient so that there is no glue overage. If anyone has some tips for a beginner quiller, I would love to hear them.

ReplyDeleteMarilyn, your cardinal is very pretty! I love to quill too. I like to apply just a tiny amount of glue to a rolled coil with either the tip of a paper piercing tool or a T-pin. I dip from a small puddle of clear glue that I've put on a plastic lid of some sort. I find it's easier that way than working with a little squeeze bottle of glue, although lots of quillers prefer that method.

ReplyDeleteI use a PVA glue when quilling, and put a couple of drops on a plastic lid and apply it with a toothpick, and I generally get a good result. Yes, patience is a virtue when quilling :-)

ReplyDeleteI think you did a very good job. If you want to learn more about quilling you might join one of the online quilling groups. I belong to quillers@yahoo.com. They're great. I use Sobo or Elmer's glue all to glue with. You just have to use a very little bit of glue to create your quill art without glue showing. I use both a needle and a ultra-fine tip glue bottle for my quilling. There are tons of free resources online. Most of the online stores, including our has quilling resources. Quilling is like anything worth doing, it takes both practice and patience.

I have only tried quilling a little bit and I love it but it definitely takes practice i guess as I don't have the knack! LOL!
