This week for the MUSTARD SEED FAITH CHALLENGE BLOG there is a sketch challenge.
As it always is with me and sketches, I start with an idea, thinking that I will do the sketch, but then as I'm creating, it becomes something else. So here is my take on the sketch.
This card is going to my good friend Becky who broke her leg last week and has been needing some encouragement.

I had this grunge dp on my desk. I traced the cd around it and cut it out. It was then that I saw that in addition to grunge, it had a kitty foot print. I think she stepped in some dust and onto my paper. It was going to be covered up anyway. I think it makes it special. It is because of this little foot print that this project is going to my friend Deb. In memory of sweet princess ANNA.
For the other side of the cd I printed a globe on cardstock I used a stencil and glue to make the butterflies. I used burned glue technique on the glue.

For week 3 of Things with Wings Bloghop, I decided to make an altered CD. I used burned glue technique on the butterflies. I used black acrylic paint, rhinestones and pearls, gold metallic rub and black stazon ink.

This is the opposite side of the CD. What it made me think of was the walls in a subway station. A grungy ironic backdrop for golden butterflies.

The image SMILE has clouds by her head. I have had enough rain and long for sunshine, so when I fussy cut her out, I cut out the clouds. Wish I could cut out the clouds in real life, well sometimes, cause I know we need the rain. The tag behind her was made using cardboard, white acrylic paint, glue, markers, cheesecloth, quilled roses and a rhinestone heart. I have her holding one of the quilled roses.
This image reminded me of my daughter Kristina when she was little.

This week at: THE MUSTARD SEED FAITH CHALLENGE blog The devotion and challenge this week are about asking God for Traveling Mercies and making a travel themed card.
I used white acrylic paint and glue mixed with blue markers to make the waves. I heated them with my heat gun until the glue started to bubble. When dried. I went over the top with gold metallic rub. The metallic rub really brought out the texture. I used STAMPlorations Stamp set called : TRUE NORTH
I added some gold metallic rub on the compass. I added burlap, cheese cloth and a gold thread to add some textile texture.
Some of my thoughts as I was making this card...
I was thinking about the song "It is well with my soul" It was written by:Horatio Spafford
He had been a successful lawyer, but after the great Chicago fire, and the subsequent economic downturn, he was financially devastated. He was going to take his family and return to Europe. Last minute travel plans changed and his wife and 4 daughters sailed on without him. The ship that they were on wrecked and sank. His 4 daughters died. When he was sailing to join his wife, when he went over the spot where his daughters had died, he wrote the words to this song.

I have been listening a lot lately to this song by Mercy Me that uses part of "It is well with my soul" along with some new words.
Horatio Spafford and his wife lost their 4 daughters and they also lost 2 sons. The church that they were with thought that the suffering that he and his wife were having was because of divine punishment. It makes me sad that they had extra sufferings on top of the trials that they had. A lot of people would have just given up. Such hard times. But I love their response. They formed a group that was called "THE OVERCOMERS"
I want to be known as an OVERCOMER.. One who KNOWS that it is well with my soul.

Making this tag was very fun and relaxing for me. I just started with what was on my desk and let it develop with a mind of its own. I had some cardboard that came from a drink carrier from Sonic. I cut it into a tag shape. I took a page from the
and I used a black sharpie marker to trace the bubbles of the stencil onto the tag. I added white acrylic paint to the bubbles. I also took a blue colored pencil and colored in the bubbles. I added gold thread, cheesecloth and floral lace. Then I added two flowers that I made using
