MOJO 482 is for the Birds

This week's Mojo Monday sketch looked like a really fun one. It helped me get into thinking about making some Valentines. I got to craft yesterday with my cyber friend Pam. We hadn't crafted in a while. It was so much fun to connect again. We decided to do the sketch and use birds and shine or sparkle. I was going to go for glitter, but it just didn't work out. I ended up going with shine with ink gold.

There is still time to play along with the STAMPlorations mixed media challenge. Just make sure to make a project with a stencil that isn't a card. 

I want to share a tag that I made. I used ink spray smash technique with ghosting.

 

I ink spray smashed purple, blue and green on piece of white cardstock. 

I used ARTplorations Stencil: Zen Hearts

frosted winged dragonfly

The MIX-ability challenge this week on SCS is to make something frosty. 

I made frosty wings on my dragonfly. 

This tag started out with white cardstock. 

I ink spray smashed it with blues, greens and browns.

 

Then when those colors were dry, I did ghosting with my 

new ARTplorations stencil Dragonfly Waltz.

I put the stencil down over the cardstock and sprayed water.

I let the water stand for about 10 seconds and I removed the stencil.

In this close up photo I think you can see the little "ghost" dragonfly.

 I wanted fiber or ribbon to use at the top of the tag. I had this ribbon (left of tag). That matched in color, but was way to wide to use. So I cut it and pulled at the fibers until they all unraveled. I used them. I was really pleased at how it turned out.

Since I started with a whole sheet of white cardstock.

 There was extra to make a second tag.

Back to business...dragonflies on a screen door

This card is for the MIX-ability challenge at SCS 

MIX-208 challenge was to look at a business envelope and use the designs from the inside on a card.

I was thinking that the envelope was going to be boring, and then I found this one. It made me think of a screen door. I wish I had more of this paper. I ink spray smashed it to make it look like outside. I stamped the dragonflies. I water colored more on the wings and added glitter. I added texture paste to the bodies. 

 

 This close up shows the texture of the body and the glitter of the wings.

This was such a fun challenge.

ARTplorations Mixed Media January 8, 2017 Calendar

Happy New Year. I hope that 2017 is a year filled with blessings. First ARTplorations challenge for the New Year. I decided to make a calendar I used ARTplorations DELICATE LEAVES stencil

with gold texture paint. I used burlap, two different types of lace one cream and one teal and scraps of paper. I printed a personalized calendar using a wordprocessing program. I added important dates for my family. I made a little topper and added a butterfly. I like butterflies because they remind me that life is always changing and not to take life for granted.
