Poinsettia Blooms stamp set

I used faux barn wood for the background. Does it look like a cereal box to you? Well that is how it started. I cut the barn wood into panels. I added ribbon and cheesecloth. The candle holder was stamped cut out and popped up on buttons to make it stand out. I added white paint and glitter to add the dimension and look of snow. There is gold acrylic paint on the fire of the candle and gold beads and paint in the center of the poinsettia.

MFP has so many great Christmas sets, it was hard choose which one to use for this hop. The card I'm sharing today uses the sentiment from this set:
 Joyeous Season

I embossed with gold ep to add an elegant touch. I used to heat emboss all the time when I started stamping and I had gotten away from it. I think it is time I started heat embossing again, because it is so much fun.

Cathedral windows- Thinking of you...

My friend Sabrina, shared a really fun technique for TLC544 on Splitcoaststampers
I knew I was going to have to give it a try. It was a really fun and easy technique. I used a 1" circle and I used a 6/8" square to fold my circles around.

Sing to Him

I started this card with a cereal box.

I covered the back of the cereal box with distress inks.

I put school glue over the top.

.

I spread the glue out.

I put drops of white and gold paint over the glue.

I used my fingers to spread the paint drops over the glue.

How my cereal box looked when the glue and paint dried, My faux barn board background only needed gold embossing powder and music notes to make the perfect backdrop for my card.

My card has lace, burlap, cheesecloth, brads, and encyclopedia die cut letters spelling "SING". It has fussy cut cone flowers and a butterfly.  This verse from 1 Chronicles 16:9 was the perfect match for this card.

I am entering this card in the following challenges.

Crafts 4 Eternity R#236 MUSIC
CAS-ual-Chic- CCC01 EMBOSSING
Just Add Ink- BUTTERFLIES

HOPE

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face,
(Edward Mote, circa 1834)

There are times in life that the world says "There is no hope", but my heart HOPES in Jesus. I made this card for a friend of mine from church who has been diagnosed with ALS. I know God will heal her. Either in this life or in the next one. Praying that this card encourages her and helps her in the tough days ahead.

I am entering this card in the JUST ADD INK challenge to just add butterflies.

Sunflower transfer

I love taking photos of flowers, and sunflowers are my favorite flower. So when I saw that this week's challenge was to make a photo or print transfer, I took one of my sunflower photos. I printed it with a gray scale, onto just plain printer paper.. Then I took a piece of cardboard that I had put gesso on. I covered over the gesso with Mod Podge and then placed the photo face down onto the Mod Podge. When it dried I sprayed the back of the paper with water and rubbed away the paper leaving the image. I then added color with water coloring and gold shimmer spray and gold acrylic paint and distress inks.  Because "direction" didn't matter, I didn't flip the photo before printing, but if the photo had had words, I would have flipped it before printing.

JOY

This card was an layer by layer kind of card. I started with a cardboard box that at one time held crackers. I put a layer of gesso on the cardboard. I then used my computer and printer to print a black and white photo of a sunflower that I took a photo of several years ago. I printed it onto plain typing paper. Then for this week's mix-ability challenge to transfer print, I spread mod podge on the cardboard and laid the printed photo face down on the mod podge. I used my fingers to get the bubbles out. When that dried I sprayed the back of the paper with water and gently rubbed to get the paper off. I wanted to add some "color" to my project so I added yellow water coloring to the petals. I used distress inks to add a caramel color around the sunflower. I also added gold shimmer spray and gold acrylic paint. I also used gold metallic rub. Then I glued cheese cloth in the corner. But it turned out to be too white. So I took some cheese cloth and used distress inks to make it darker. I also took some cheese cloth and sprayed it with gold shimmer spray. I die cut the letters out of the cardboard box as well as the butterflies. I decided to use a sharpie marker to make the letters all black to make them stand out. I added gold around the edges of the butterflies. The letters kept disappearing in the cheese cloth so I added a strip of burlap. I had black polka dotted  mulberry paper. I decided to burn around the edges. I took a paper doily and used distress inks to give it a golden color. I made it into an easel card. I kept looking at it and decided it needed some stamping, so I stamped some circles and music notes. I also decided it needed distress ink around the edges of the brown cardstock.

Here are some close up photos.

The butterflies are for the free for all challenge for things that fly.

2 challenges

This card combines 2 Splitcoast challenges.  The first one is WT539
to use grids or tiles. I made a tiled background. The second challenge is MIX128
which is to doodle on your project. I started to doodle with a gold sharpie marker around the
edges but compared to the gold embossing it looked really dull. So I decided to "think outside the box".
I doodled with a bamboo skewer dipped in gold paint I doodled over where the marker was.

MOJO405

I made this card for the MOJO 405
sketch. What you can't see in how much this card shimmers.
Gold shimmer spray is kinda hard to capture with my camera when it is
cloudy and rainy, and it has been that way almost all week.

MIX127 Blue, White and Red

This week's MIX-ABILITY challenge on SCS is to make a red white and blue mixed media project. I went with a lot of blue a little bit of white and an even littler bit of red.
I used water coloring, prisma colored pencils, cheese cloth and on the sand dollar I used eye shadow.
I stamped the sand dollar with black stazon ink onto a brown paper bag stack. I say stack because I had glued probably 10 layers of paper bag to make the stack and while the glue was still wet in the stack I cut out the sand dollar. I used my fingers and a stylus to add some dimension to the sand dollar. I then rubbed a sparkly brown eye shadow over the top.
