Stampin' Sisters in Christ - Happy Resurrection Sunday!!

Luke 24:46-47 and (Jesus) said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Happy Resurrection Day. I am so thankful that God would give his only son as a sacrifice for my sin, and even more thankful that He raised him back to life!!!

Go to the bottom of my page and pause my RADIO WORSHIP before listening to this awesome song. This song says it all about Resurrection Sunday!!!

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week is to make an Easter Card and it has to be round.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge 85

Matthew 16:23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan!"
Jesus says to Peter "You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human ones." Jesus knew that God's plan would mean that he would suffer and die. Peter said "NEVER LORD!...This shall NEVER happen to you" Can't you just see Peter's furrowed brow and resolute body language? I can because I have a strong willed son, who thinks he is always right and even if he is wrong, he is right. He will stand his ground and argue his point. That is kinda how I see Peter. Recorded in just a few verses before, Peter is the one, who when Jesus asked them who he was, Peter replied...“You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Peter had seen numerous miracles that had proven to him that Jesus really was the Son of God. In Peter's mind, as well as a lot of the Jews at that time, thought that the Messiah was going to have an earthly kingdom and the thought of Jesus dying really didn't fit the idea that Peter had in his head. It is so easy to judge Peter and say well if that was me "I wouldn't have done what he did." Yet how many times do I have in my own mind the way that God should do things? I think I know better. If I had my way... I wouldn't have people suffer, but God sees that that suffering draws people them closer to Him. For some that suffering leads them to make a decision for salvation. What it must be like to see the big picture. I only see a tiny glimpse and in my arrogance think I know what the big picture should look like. "Dear God, please forgive my pride and stubborness when I try to tell you how things should be done, or how I want them to be done. I know you have a plan, but sometimes it is so hard to have faith in your plan. Please strengthen my faith and help me to trust you more. Thank you for giving me the things that I need instead of giving me just what I want, because you know best. In Jesus' name amen!!"

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challege is to make a tone on tone card. I stamped flourishes on my card using lime green ink on the lime green panel. I added some handmade flowers to the left side of the card. I hope you have a blessed week. The sponsor this week is Designed to Delight. The prize is $10 to her store. Hope you can play along with the Stampin' Sisters in Christ.

April Mark's Finest Paper Blog Hop- Day 4- Garden Fairies and coffee filter sweet peas tutorial

To make the sweet peas on my card. I started with an acetate report folder that I scribbled on with markers.

I sprayed the scribbles with water. I smooshed the folder together.
I punched flowers out of coffee filters.
I placed the coffee filters on the puddles of inky water.
I folded the flowers in half.
I folded them in half again.
I let the flowers dry.
My coffee filter flowers.
I punched little green flowers out of card stock, using my MS punch.
I used an embossing stylus to push the center down. I place a piece of craft foam underneath.
I looks kinda like a little green bowl.
I dipped the end of the flower in glue.
I put the coffee filter flower into the "Bowl"
Close up of the Garden Fairies butterfly. I water colored the butterfly.

April Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop Day 3

I know you are going to love the set we are showing you today. I know I do. Who doesn't love gardens? I am a flower person so I was drawn to it right away. My first project is card candy with some of my handmade flowers. I wanted a bag big enough for my candy so I took a report folder and sewed the edges to make it the size I wanted it to be 5"x 7". For my second project, I watercolored the image and added some of my handmade flowers.

April Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop- Day 1

Can you tell I love this image? I love irises. When I lived in Illinois a friend of mine at church gave me some iris bulbs to plant. I was so excited. I brought them home and got them planted. The problem was my farm cats. They thought it was a fun game to dig up the bulbs. Everytime I would replant them they would dig them up again. This went on for months and most of the bulbs died. I had only one plant survive. It didn't bloom the first two years. I had almost given up on it ever blooming. Then springtime came and we found out that we were moving to Iowa. I was fearful of the move. I had such close friends and an awesome church family. I was wondering if I could ever find such a support system. Then one day I looked out and saw that there was a bloom on my iris plant. It was like a sign from God that everything was going to be ok. I would be transplanted like those bulbs had been and I would thrive and even someday bloom. I called it my promise flower. I watched it everday anticipating the opening of the bloom. It got close to Mother's day and it looked like it was going to open. Then it happened it opened, and then I cried. My sweet little daughter knew how much I loved my iris so she had dug it up and had it in a bucket for me for Mother's day. I was so irritated. I thought she had killed it. Turns out it was a really hardy plant and made it with us to Iowa. It has been 6 years since this happened and now it has multiplied and now fills a good portion of my bulb garden. God is good and he has been faithful!! I am like that flower bulb. I keep getting dug up and transplanted but God has sustained me and helped me to bloom. Today is my day off for the blog hop but here is what is the others on the design team have done.

If I don't have a lot to say here today it is because I had a busy weekend doing city wide clean up and then camping with the boyscouts. I wanted to at least get my card posted. I will try to come back later and let you know more about the card I made for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge. The SSIC challenge was to make a card with purple on it. I used a soon to be released image from Mark's Finest Papers called Bearded iris. I used Christ the Lord is Risen today as the base of my card.

3x3 tote for April

There are times in my life, where I am overcome with committments and activities and I feel like I am playing catch up. Can you relate? These past couple of weeks have been so hectic. It wasn't until yesterday that I realized that my youngest sister, April, is turning 30 tomorrow. You would think her name alone would remind me. I even had it on several calendars as well as on facebook. I think her present is going to be a little late because it is still sitting on my desk. I made her this little tote. It was today's Technique lover's challenge. I first thought of filling the tote with chocolate, but mailing chocolate to Arizona except in December is a very BAD idea. I then tried to think of other types of candy that I could put in it, but drew a blank. The tote is too little for a new pair of shoes... so what to fill it with. I decided to make little 3x3 note cards. Each card has a piece of ink-spray-smash paper to make it unique. I added lace, scoring and paper flowers, leaves and tendrils to each card. I'll have to e-mail April a link to this post so at least she can see her gift :). The butterfly is from a Mark's Finest Papers set called HEARTS, HEARTS, HEARTS. I used another Mark's Finest Papers set called DAFFODIL AND ANISE. I stamed the anise on white cardstock before ink-spray and smashing it for the base of the tote

Little Boy card - Stampin' Sisters in Christ

I hope that everyone is having a blessed day today.

For this week's STAMPIN' SISTERS IN CHRIST challenge Miesje picked this scripture:

Luke 18:17 "Amen I say to you,

whoever does not accept

the kingdom of God

like a CHILD will not enter it."

What does it meant to accept the kingdom of God like a child? It all comes down to trust/faith. Am I trusting God like a litle child?

When my kids were little they didn't worry, they had TRUST that I would take care of their needs. They knew that I would feed them, dress them, entertain them, play with them...love them. Am I TRUSTING God about my needs? He has promised to take care of my needs if I seek his kingdom. (Matthew 6:25:34)

They didn't worry when we went in the car becaue they TRUSTED that I knew where I was taking them. Am I TRUSTING God about where I am going? He has a plan for my life. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Funny thing is as they got older and turned in to TEENAGERS they started wanting to do things their OWN way. I miss those days when they were littler. I think sometimes I am acting like a teenager to God. I don't trust as well as I should because I want to do things my own way.

Dear God, please forgive me for wanting to do things my own way. I know that I don't know what is best for my life, but you do. Help me this day to trust you more. Help me remember how much you love me. Help restore my childlike faith. In Jesus' name amen!

This week's challenge is to make a card for a child. My nephew has a birthday coming up, so I made this card for him. I went with a fairly simple design. the only layering I did was behind the punched out trains so that you could see them. I punched out buttons and added thread to the centers.

Thanks for looking at my Little boy card. You should check out what my Stampin' Sisters in Christ have created.

Thank you card

I made some pink flowers for Thursday's ways to use it challenge. I used my LAYERS OF COLOR art stencil to stencil the vine to the plaid dp. I glued the flowers in the corner and added a butterfly from Mark's Finest Papers set called Daffodil and Anise. Sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers set called Thankful for you.
