Bargello cards

I made this daisy bargello card for a dear friend of mine named Sue. She owns a quilt shop in our local mall, and today there was a fire in her shop. I am sickend and sorry about what she has lost due to this fire.

I made this bargello card using the sheet music for an old hymn called Help Somebody Today.
Here are the lyrics for that hymn...
Help Somebody Today
by Carrie E Breck and Charles H. Gabriel 1904
Look all around you, find someone in need, help somebody today! Though it be little, a a neighborly deed, help somebody today! Many are waiting a kind loving word, help somebody today! Thou hast a message oh let it be heard, help somebody today! Many have burdens too heavy to bear, help somebody today! Grief is the portion of some everywhere, help somebody today! Some are discourage and weary in heart, help somebody today! Someone the journey to heaven should start, help somebody today! Help somebody today, somebody along life's way; let sorrow be ended, the friendless befriended, oh help somebody today!!
My top card is for the stampin' sisters in Christ challenge to make a card with green .
Peggy Sue shared this scripture with us.

Exodus 8:9-11 "Moses said to Pharaoh, 'I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.' 'Tomorrow," Pharaoh said. Moses replied, 'It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God, The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.'"

Peggy Sue pointed out how Pharoah wanted to wait until Tomorrow. I was reminded that we are never promised tomorrow, all we have is TODAY. Today to serve the Lord!

More sketch cards

I really liked how easy today's sketch was. I decided to make two more. One using Mark's Finest Papers - Greet the day with Gerber and Daffodil and Anise sets. I used black magic technique. I stitched the panels and added pearls.
This card was made using Layers of Color set called Joyful noise. I stamped the images with black stazon ink. I watercolored the butterfly. I stitched the panels, added black brads and finished it off with a black satin ribbon.

Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord oh my soul, let all that is within me praise His holy name. When things are going good in my life it is so easy for my to Praise God, but what about when things are not going how I would like them to? I will still praise Him. I love this verse from Psalm 146:2 "I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live." It doesn't make any other conditions except that if I am living I will praise Him. This has been a hard week because our youth pastor-music director has resigned and he and his lovely wife are moving. I have served with Pastor Mitch on the Praise and Worship team for 6 months. I know that God has a plan for them as well as a plan for our Church, but it is hard to say goodbye. Tonight is the last night with the youth and my heart has been heavy all day, but I will still Praise the Lord. The old hymn on this card was written by Frances J. Crosby and publish in 1869. That was 142 years ago. The part of this hymn that I love is this... "Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children, In His arms He carries them all day long. Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness; Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song!" I know that He carries me. It is the only way I make it through my days. I made this card for a wonderful lady who has blessed my life. This last fall, my mother in law gave me a devotional called GRACE BY THE CUP. It really blessed my heart to read it. My daughter also has been reading it. The other day I found out that the author makes cards and also is a member of SCS. I sent her a note letting her know how her book blessed me, and she continued to bless me because she sent me her next book called Faith-dipped Chocolate. I made this card to thank her for her generosity. I used the sketch challenge from SCS for my layout. This card came together really quickly because there was no stamping, no fussy cutting and no coloring. The papers were from the DCWV Mariposa stack. They were very similar to the colors from yesterday's color challenge.

Give thanks in ALL circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Valentine for my friend Ardy

I love it when things come together. I made this quilt card yesterday for my friend Ardy. Since it is a square card, I was wondering what kind of envelope I was going to use. Then today for the Splitcoast Technique Lovers Challenge, we were challenged to make a shadow box card. When I made the shadow box, I was looking at it and it looked like the quilt card would fit in perfectly and it did. How fun!! It was like it was meant to be. I have close up photos of the card and the shadow box.

Happy Valentine's Day

This is the Valentine I made for my friend Evelyn.

This is the Valentine I made for my daughter Johanna.

This is the Valentine I made for my daughter Kristina.

This is the Valentine I made for my son Kaleb.

This is the Valentine I made for my son Joshua.

This is the Valentine I made for my husband Derek.

This is my Valentine for all of you.

Mark’s Finest Papers

Close up of the big lamb.

Close up of little lamb.

I stamped the two little lambs with black stazon. I glued a stretched out cotton ball. I sewed the hills together and then cut a fringe on each hill to make the grass. I added ribbon and flowers. This Steve Green song was going through my head as I was making this card.

Hear the story from God's Word
That kings and priests and prophets heard
There would be a sacrifice
And blood would flow to pay sin's price

On the cross God loved the world
While all the powers of hell were hurled
No one there could understand
The one they say was Christ the Lamb

Precious Lamb of Glory
Love's most wondrous story
Heart of God's redemption of man
Glory to the Lamb
Pure as snow I stand
Worshipping the Lamb of Glory

With the saints I will stand in eternity
Giving praise to the Lamb of Glory
Glory
Precious Lamb of Glory
Love's most wondrous story
Heart of God's redemption of man
Glory to the Lamb
Pure as snow I stand
Worshipping the Lamb of Glory

Ways to Use - a Birthday card...

If you are looking for day three of the Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop please scroll down to the next post.
I wanted to share some cards that I made for the ways to use it challenge at SCS. Today we were challenged to make birthday cards. I know my cards don't have balloons, cake or candles, but they are definitely birthday cards. I made them for 3 special ladies in my life that have February birthdays. The first one if for my niece Laura. The second one is for my mom and the third one is for my mother in law. All three cards have Mark's Finest Papers butterflies. I used the butterfly from the Daffodil and Anise set as well as the butterfly from Take a Peek. The sentiment on the second card is also from the Daffodil and Anise set. For my mother's card I also used the gerbera daisies from the newly released Mark's Finest Papers set called Greet the day with Gerber. I made the card for my mom and for my mother in law pop-up cards.

Big Eyes

If you are looking for MFP BLOG HOP day 2 scroll down to next post.
I just wanted to share this card I made for the sketch challenge at SCS. I wasn't the only one who used this set, but it was just the perfect image to use for this sketch. I am going to be sending this one to my little sister(Who turns 30 this year). When she was a baby we would make a 2 hr drive from Prescott to Phoenix every week. Just outside of Phoenix was a billboard that had a zoomed in look at a lady's eyes. By the time the 2 hrs was almost over she would start getting antsy and we would have her look for the BIG EYES. Week after week we looked for the BIG EYES, until one week they had changed the billboard... bummer!!! I don't even know if she remembers the big eyes, but I do and that is why this card is going to her.Posted by Picasa

Trust in the Lord...

This is another card for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge to make a blue and green card to remind us of the 23 Psalm. With all the sparkle and shine on this card it was so hard to photo. The panel on the left was dry embossed using my cuttlebug and the music embossing folder. It has silver ep heat embossed over the top of the dry embossing. The flowers, blue ribbon and stamp were all gifts from my good friend Grace as part of her blog candy.
