I used two different techniques. I did masking technique to have the lightbulb look like it is over the books. With the masking technique you stamp the “front” image first then cover it up and stamp the “back” image. I then did a technique called highlighting where you only color part of the image to make it look like it is highlighted. I did this by using a ruler to draw parallel lines. I watercolored it. I added highlights with a white gel pen. I also added gilding flakes. I hand wrote holy Bible on one of the books. I also wrote the scripture. Hope this inspires you. I have a group of kids that I teach for an after school program at my church. I was doing a lesson on not worrying. Matthew 6:26 was their memory verse that we were learning. I went through all my stamps and pulled out birds and stamped them on bookmarks for the kids to color. Well of course I had to keep one for myself. This is the one I kept. I watercolored the birds. I hand wrote the scripture. I doodled the edges and painted the edges. I added embroidery floss at the top. The kids loved the bookmarks and all the “extras” were quickly claimed. I loved how they looked but hated that they were so hard to mail. So in recent days I have been trying to make cards that are one layer that look layered. Stencils are one way that help add interest and layers. I used <a href="https://stamplorations.com/slimline-stencils/p/burst-slimline" target="_blank">Burst Stencil</a> with <a href="https://stamplorations.com/3x5/p/blossom-like-a-butterfly" target="_blank">Blossom Like a Butterfly</a> stamp. </div>I painted in each little section with watercolor paint. I added highlights with a white gel pen and a used a black sharpie marker to make the faux layer and added doodles with a black ink pen. <div><br /></div><div>I hope you join us for our stencil challenge. </div><div><ul style="line-height: 1.4; list-style-image: initial; list-style-position: initial; margin: 0.5em 0px; padding: 0px 2.5em;"><li style="border: medium none; margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0.25em 0px;">You can link up a maximum of 3 projects -- any type of project is welcome as long as a stencil is used -- but each project must be in its own blog post.</li><li style="border: medium none; margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0.25em 0px;">Use of stencil (any brand) is a requirement.</li><li style="border: medium none; margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0.25em 0px;">Non-STAMPlorations products are OK </li><li style="border: medium none; margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0.25em 0px;">No sneak peek project entries; full project photo must be displayed on blog post in order to qualify for the prizes.</li><li style="border: medium none; margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0.25em 0px;">To qualify for the prize, you must display challenge graphic and have a text link to the challenge post (blogs only)</li></ul><div><br style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;" /></div> <p></p><div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">Prizes:</div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, tahoma, helvetica, freesans, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;"><ul style="line-height: 1.4; list-style-image: initial; list-style-position: initial; margin: 0.5em 0px; padding: 0px 2.5em;"><li style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0.25em 0px;">$20 prize code to winner ($25 if STAMPlorations/ARTplorations stencil was used)<br /></li><li style="border: none; margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0.25em 0px;">$10 prize code to 2 randomly picked entries ($15 if STAMPlorations/ARTplorations stencil was used)</li></ul></div><p> </p><p><br /></p></div>MariLynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13772691894541726851noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3557869348156448942.post-71006813396240740492022-01-01T04:00:00.001-06:002022-01-01T04:00:00.208-06:00STAMPlorations January Challenge. <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-X4odHT0NRWE/YcD6sl_NIbI/AAAAAAAAioc/YPQoi463LiEDMJtSa_pVb08iAjUlP_ixQCNcBGAsYHQ/image.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="400" height="240" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-X4odHT0NRWE/YcD6sl_NIbI/AAAAAAAAioc/YPQoi463LiEDMJtSa_pVb08iAjUlP_ixQCNcBGAsYHQ/image.png" width="240" /></a></div><br />Happy New Year. I love the nautical theme. This was a really fun project to make. Being two sided made it really easy to use. I didn't have to stamp or anything. All I had to do was cut the papers, score them and glue them to the bookmark. This project has a belly band that holds the little flaps down. I die cut 3 circles and fussy cut out the little octopus. <p></p>MariLynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13772691894541726851noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3557869348156448942.post-58079304914068765292021-07-10T23:51:00.002-05:002021-07-10T23:51:42.787-05:00Cased Wedding Card<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o95vZzKog1w/YOp1pJP5UBI/AAAAAAAAiUE/P4CZig4MGMw3o7BGTBSx_goz-4RbFB4bACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/213351672_1475866836093530_5305321407004202089_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="560" data-original-width="640" height="560" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o95vZzKog1w/YOp1pJP5UBI/AAAAAAAAiUE/P4CZig4MGMw3o7BGTBSx_goz-4RbFB4bACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h560/213351672_1475866836093530_5305321407004202089_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p><br /></p>My mother in law needed me to make a wedding card for two friends of hers who are getting a second chance at love. I went on Pinterest and it took me to <a href="https://creativestampingdesigns.com/2019/10/03/stampin-up-well-written-wedding-card/" target="_blank">THIS BLOG</a>. I knew right away that I wanted to make a card inspired by Karen, who herself said that her card was inspired by others who made simlar cards. . I used different supplies to get to a similar look. What you can't tell from the photo is the bride puzzle piece is covered with sparkles. I used my nuvo Glamour Glitter Pen to go over the surface. What is also hard to see from the photo is that the white square base is embossed. I made this card into an easel card. I used a white gel pen to write congratulations and the name of the bride and the groom. <br /> My card differs from the inspiration card in that I didn't add buttons on the groom puzzle piece, but I did put a bow tie. a cut piece of black cardstock. Sometimes you just has to CASE. Copy and Share everything another artist's card. My mother always said "imitation is a sincere form of flattery." She is right. <p></p>MariLynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13772691894541726851noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3557869348156448942.post-73622317688700033922021-07-08T23:31:00.002-05:002021-07-08T23:31:28.140-05:00Pop and twist baby card<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Last week for the watercolor Wednesday for SCS. it was how to paint a moon. I made this one using the Blossoms Spray #5 but I also used the border die from the bundle. But I used it in a non traditional way. I trimmed it down to make a border on my postcard. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GTkrFfWNuFY/YNfpzEPk0II/AAAAAAAAiRs/AoAaa1p2ODwqhNcynzDS7cW4MD9_ipMVgCLcBGAsYHQ/s853/201638763_158094423027646_2299883540532190640_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="853" data-original-width="640" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GTkrFfWNuFY/YNfpzEPk0II/AAAAAAAAiRs/AoAaa1p2ODwqhNcynzDS7cW4MD9_ipMVgCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/201638763_158094423027646_2299883540532190640_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My grandson Noah and I have been telling eachother puns to make the other one smile. I have decided against sending this to him because when I told him the pun over the phone he got upset and didn't like that it was making fun of his name. My dad said that 1/2 of puns are PU. I guess that is because it is still really cold at my house. I have neighbors who still have their heat on. We had one day in the last 3 weeks that was 85 degrees then the rest have been so cold. On Sunday as we were making our way to church for Mother's day service, it was 39 degrees. So I have HOPE that spring is coming soon. Until then I can enjoy beautiful cards with flowers.
