I used the butterfly from MFP:
Daffodil Greetings- Stamp Set

Butterflies need beautiful flowers. My flowers are a little mixed media style. I am sure that is a not a shock to anyone who follows my blog. The splitcoaststampers mixed media challenge this week is to paint flowers. Stamping is allowed, but not on the flowers.
This is the photo that was my inspiration.

I sketched the flowers quickly with a pencil on white cardstock.

I watercolored the flowers using crayola markers on acetate and water.

I ran the flower panel through my cuttlebug using my script embossing folder. I added gold metallic rub over raised areas, I sprayed the flowers with a really fine mist of old spray. I added gold wink of stella on the centers of the flowers. I put little drops of white acrylic paint for highlights on the centers.

I decided to have burlap and a brown paper doily to go with the flowers.

I stamped the butterfly with light grey ink. The technique that I tried on Monday, where you stamp the image with light ink and gov over it with a pencil to make it look like it was sketched. I thought it would go well with my sketched and painted flowers.
I added gold wink of stella to the body, and I made the antenna out of gold thread. I drew a flourish with a pencil. Went over it with the gold metallic rub, but finally went over that with glue and glamour dust glitter.

Thanks for reading this long post. I hope you have a blessed day today.

I used the butterfly from MFP:
Daffodil Greetings- Stamp Set

I made this for a friend of mine who loves to read.
I thought this butterfly and these papers
 would make a pretty bookmark.
It was a super fast and easy project.
It took less than 10 mins. to make.
I die cut several scraps of paper that
 coordinated with the floral lace.
I cut some burlap and some pearls.

I used hot glue to
hold all the layers together.
 I sandwiched the lace,
 burlap and pearls between
two of the dp circles.

I hot glued a paper clip
 to the back. To reinforce
the hold, I put a small
rectangle over the spot I glued.

I made this video so you can see how I made this card. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to make the card, and almost as long to make the video. I would love for you to take a look at the video.

I used  the following MFP Sets:
Mushroom Selections
Dragonflies
Shello

My teenaged son needed an "I'm sorry" card. He mumbled something under his breath that hurt a friend. He asked me how he could say he was sorry. I suggested a card. So this card is going along with a bag of m&m's. Hopefully that will help him out.  I had so much fun with the big dragonfly. I watercolored him all different colors then, I added glitter. He is so sparkly.

Fairy Garden

This week's Technique Lover's Challenge on Splitcoaststampers was hosted by my friend Kelly. TLC583
The challenge is to stamp lightly and use a pencil to sketch over the images so it looks like you sketched it. Kelly posted it last night, so I had all night to think and dream about it. I had imagined a "fairy garden" And although my finished card didn't look like I had imagined it, I really like how it did turn out.

I usually stamp with black stazon ink. I knew that would be too dark, even if I stamped off first. So I tried using versamark ink. I heated it with my heat gun to make sure it was dry before I went on.
I stamped the mushroom (MFP) dragonflies (MFP) bunny (?) and circles.  I don't think I have ever used the bunny before today. It was a cheap clear stamp that I bought at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section.

Here is how it looked after stamping the white cardstock with versamark.

I added background color by doing ink, spray smash with markers and acetate folder.
Here is how it looked with the pencil sketching. I sketched in the door on the center mushroom.
I added some extra layers of color with the grass and mushrooms and bunny.

I really didn't like how the bunny's face looked, but good thing about pencils... you can erase them and do it again. I felt like it needed something more. My son walked buy and said the bunny looks like he should be holding something. So I sketched a little key in his hands. I love how it turned out. It is actually my favorite part of the card.

I did this week's MOJO sketch 445, well sort of. It was at least inspired by the sketch.

When I used my die to cut out the image, it cut the left dragonfly. I didn't feel like getting the dragonfly stamps out so I sketched the left dragonfly by hand.
Of course with a fairy garden, I needed to use some sparkle. The dragonflies have sparkle, but the mushrooms also have sparkle.... black glitter. I rarely have a use for black glitter, but today it worked perfectly.
 Isn't this bunny cute?
Can you see all the glitter?

Golden Garden

Since I picked the elements-challenges yesterday, today was Pam's turn. She picked:
1. Stamping on DP
2. flowers
3. satin ribbon
4 dry embossing
5 inka gold
6. Cheesecloth
This is the dp that I choose. I stamped flowers on smaller panel on this dp, I also did the butteffly on this dp. I also used it for the base of the card.
I put cheesecloth over the dp and a square of brown cardstock
I took a brown paper doily and cut it in half.
I took some lace and gathered it on one edge. I stapled it to hold it together.
So the flower panel would lay flat over the lace, I built up the back of the panel with circles of cardstock and hot glue.
I added my satin bow and pearls in corner.
I wanted my butterfly to hover over the page so I built up the back with circles of cardstock and hot glue

Since my cards have lots of dimension, envelopes don't work. I make boxes out of dp that I don't really like. It still looks better than an undecorated box.
See how the card fits right in the box?

Fire formed- butterflies

 MIX169- splitcoaststampes Earth day challenge
Water, wind, fire.

I chose fire for my card. I burned the edges of my top panel with matches. I sprayed that panel with gold spray. The butterflies were heat embossed with a mixture of gold ep and watering can ep. I stamped the music notes in top left corner with black stazon. I added lace, pearls, burlap, twine and ribbon and rhinestone butterfly trails.

The Free For All Challenge is to make something from nature for Earth day as well. I hope these butterflies count.

Butterfly Girl

WT580 was to USE A TREE on your card.

Well, I am a bit of a nonconformist. I thought it would be amusing to use FAUX WOOD technique on my card. Because in my mind FAUX WOOD = FAUX TREE(albeit cut down)
But just in case the challenge police are out and about, I did use trees on my card you can see them on this panel. This panel is behind butterfly girl on my card. The wings of the bird are right behind her head.

Pam let me pick all the challenges today. I chose, faux wood technique, burlap, twine and pearls. She said oh is that all, so I tossed in Butterfly. She joked about that being all? So I added wink of stella  to the list so the list was:
1. Faux Wood
2. Burlap
3. Twine
4. Pearls
5, Butterfly
6. Wink of Stella-gold
7. Recycled cardboard (since I was being ornery and doing wood which is cut down trees and the reason the challenge was given was to celebrate Earth Day, I thought I would toss, recycling on my card to make it up to our Earth.)

I used wink of stella - gold on her dress and for her necklace. Can you see the faux wood behind butterfly girl?

I am entering Butterfly girl into the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge: Butterfly Beauty

Stamping Royalty Challenge SR326   Butterflies

Word Art Wednesday challenge  226-227
