Charity for World Cardmaking Day.

World Card Making Day.

The Mountain Plains Crafters are sharing vintage cards today for World Card Making Day. We are having a tag a friend event on facebook. Graphic 45 is sponsoring this event and has provided a fabulous prize.

I hope that everyone has been having a great time creating today.

When I started my card I had a totally different idea in mind. This was one of those kinds of cards that took on a mind of its own. I pulled some scraps from my scrap drawer. I went with peach and pink colors. I sewed them onto a square piece of cardstock kinda making a quilt. I then stitched a doily, and lace. The little girl image just made me think vintage. It is an old SU image. It was one of those stamps that I just HAD TO HAVE, and then I have only used a handful of times. I paper pieced her hat and dress. I water colored the flowers, grass and her arms and legs. I stitched that circle onto the square cardstock. I had some vellum that said "Charity" on it. I knew a girl named Charity in college. At the time I thought that it was a neat "old time" name. So when I found it in my scraps, I just felt like it would fit on my vintage card. I added some hand quilled roses and pearls to finish it off.

This bible verse came to mind when I was thinking about Charity. 1 Corinthians 13:13

And now stays faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity

  2. This is exquisite MariLynn - love your colouring of the girl, and the background is perfect for her - the lace accents and pearls are the ideal finishing touch.
