Bown paper bags and weeds

The challenge today for Splitcoast Stampers, the sketch challenge 495

How many things do we take for granted every day? We pass by them and for the most part they are un-noticed. That was my inspiration for my card today. The weeds, Chicory flowers and chick peas, were growing outside my office window. I have done lots of pounded flowers, my blog history will attest to that. What I hadn't tried before was doing it on an encyclopedia page. I really like how it looks on the encyclopedia page. I had to be more gentle with the paper but the colors were more vibrant than on white cardstock. (not sure why except I think the encyclopedia paper was more absorbent so it probably soaked up more of the flower's pigment.) I was trying to figure out what to put with my flowers and thought of brown paper bags. I mostly picked it because of the brown color, but I liked the thought of using the paper bag because most people throw brown bags away.
I picked the friends sentiment from Mark's Finest Papers set called FRIENDS, because I wanted to remind myself that sometimes I am guilty of taking my friends for granted and I don't want to do that because life is unpredictable and precious. This card is going to a friend for NO reason. A just because card. I am entering this card in the WAW-139 challenge.

  3. What a fabulous idea, MaryLynn, and a great outcome with the flowers. I must hunt out some brown paper bags - we don't get many here now.
