My first card is a simple one. I stamped the image onto an encyclopedia page. I colored several of the gears using a gray colored pencil. I added screws made out of wiggly eyes. If you would like to see my tutorial on how I made them, scroll down to my next post.

My second card took a lot more time and was a lot more labor intensive, but I love how it turned out and I hope you will like it too.

When I saw the gears, I thought steam punk for inspiration. I did a lot of experimenting with this card and learned a little along the way. I wanted to make it look like I added a tin type photo. I used the image from MFP set called FAMILY. I stamped it using black stazon ink onto white cardstock. I took a black marker and colored around the image. I rubbed the whole image with copper inka gold metallic rub. It looked ok, but I thought I could do better.

For my second try I stamped the same image. Using the same ink, but I used black colored pencils to color around her. Instead of rubbing the inka gold, I put it on the image with using the water coloring technique. I took the metallic rub and put it on a plastic lid. I added water and painted it on. It looked better. As you can see in both my first and second tries, I thought that she had something lacy in her hair, but as I worked on the image, I decided it was shading.

So here is my final try the one I used on my card. I colored around the image using gray colored pencils and did the water coloring of the inka gold.

I also used MFP set called TAKE THE TIME  I stamped the watch 2 times. Once was on floral black and white cardstock and the other (for the face of the watch) on white cardstock. I rubbed inka gold on the base. I cut out the face and glued it on top of the base. I added a brad.

The base of the card was my favorite part of my project. I stamped the large gear onto white cardstock. I stamped it 4 times, cut them out and glued them on top of eachother. It took a lot of time so for my second gear. I just stamped the gear onto a cardboard box (crunch n munch- if you were wondering.) I also cut a hinge out of the cardboard box. I used punches to cut out 3 circles. All the pieces I ran through my cuttlebug. I added brads, drywall tape, metal spiral paper clips and other metal embellishments that I could find. I glued them to cardstock. I also drizzled hot glue from my hot glue gun over the top. I painted it all black and then rubbed it all over with the copper inka gold metallic rub.
I also added 2 more gears and a little key.

I made my card an easel card. I put drywall tape under the sentiment. For the sentiment I printed this quote about time onto white cardstock. I colored the background with gray colored pencils and rubbed the metallic rub over the top. The flower brads, looked kinda like small gears to me. They were originally yellow. I took a sharpie marker and colored them black and then added metallic rub.

Thanks for reading through my long post. I hope you enjoyed learning how I made this card. Check out what the other designers have done with these two sets.
