GEARS TO YOU- screw tutorial... easel card

Today I wanted to make a card with screws as embellishments. Of course not real screws, but I wasn't sure how to make them so I experimented. This shows "screws" made out of tin foil (left 2) silver cardstock (center 2) and a wiggly eye (right 1).

Problem with  the tin foil ones is they were too flimsy and that was even with a piece of cardstock sandwiched between 2 pieces of foil. The silver cardstock was more sturdy but lacked any dimension. I happened on the wiggly eyes as I was searching through all my crafting supplies to see what I could use.

I took a Sharpie silver marker and colored over the top. It dried fairly quickly.

After the silver dried I took a black ink pen and made the x in the center.

Here is the project that I used the screws on. It is for the splitcoast SC491
Instead of doing a vertical panel, I decided to stamp these little gears. They are a sneak peek at a MFP set that will be showcased next week during the blog hop, called. "GEARS TO YOU". One of the nice things about using a clear acrylic block is you can sort of see underneath it. I used that to my advantage as I tried to "line" up the gears with each other. To give the gears a little dimension, I highlighted and shadowed with prisma colored pencils. I added brads to the centers of the gears.  I used the sentiment from MFP set called "CLASSIC DAD"

I took drywall tape and silver inka gold metallic rub to add some distressing and interest to the card. You can see the texture and dimension in this close up photo of the right hand corner.

Don't you love it when you have paper that goes with the stamped image you are using? I had the perfect dp. It is a digital paper from Daydream Designs called. MAN OF MINE I could have used a colored version of this paper, but that is the joy of doing digital is you can print it in black and white too.

Don't you agree that the digital paper is perfect? I used it on the base of the easel.
